- 2015 Yamaha SR Viper X-TX
Just bought myself an almost new 2015 SR Viper XTX. It has only 680 kms/453 miles on it. Oh man, I'm excited!
Plans for it? Yeah, I've already ordered Curves and the fan reverse. I plan Ulmer clutch kit (I'll wait with the air box mod and muffler until next season), Hygear 141" Pro Linkage kit and the Dual Pressure kit for the front shocks. I'll get it to ride nicely before I do any performance upgrade. Turbo? Not sure yet, but those 180/190 hp kits are tempting...

Nice you will love it! I have a 14 and a 15 that is the same model as yours But red and white. You will love the hygear linkage if you get it. Makes the sled into a real trail burner and keeps the nose from going to the sky especially if you decide to go turbo.

Thanks Yamadog. Yeah, really excited and looking forward to getting her, and to get some snow!
I just read Mr Sled's review of the Hygear linkage and Dual Pressure kit, sounds awesome and I'll def get them both!
I rode a friends '14 XTX and thought the rear end was way too stiff, to the point where I thought, "I don't really want a Viper"
I initially looked at a '14 XTX, which had slightly more miles on her, but then this one came up, and being a '15 and with less miles it was an offer I couldn't refuse

Well I can tell ya - They say there was no changes in the shocks or suspensions between 14 and 15 but I absolutely hated my 14 at first. I tried all pressure combos in the rear float, and spring tension in the front skid shock. I put $1500 evol rc2's up front and tried several different skis on it before changing to axis shocks up front, hygear rear linkage with the axis rear skid shock and now it rides like a dream. I only got to ride the 15 1 weekend at the end of the season but out the box completely stock it was a completely different sled. I think I had 65 lbs in the front and 125 in the rear skid and turn the front skid to loose when suspended in the air then 3 turns back in on the retention nut.

Here are the pictures the dealer used in the classifieds.
I'll get her in a week or so

I also loved the feel of the mountain seat vs the trail seat on the 14. I was not that disappointed with the tuner skis but did not get much of a chance to ride it other than 1 weekend. I had put the plain bars on one ski and te 2 -3" carbides on the other. I had 0 dart but did have a bit of a push at speed it the turns.

The front skid shock on the XTX and MTX is only a 110 pound spring not even a 135 like the other Viper models. That makes it seem very stiff in the rear and heavy feeling in the front. I suggest changing that spring even if you upgrade, and consider it a MUST do for XTX and MTX. According to specs the Cat and Yamaha get a spring 1.5 inches longer for 2016 to help resolve this.

Looks like this one don't have the Tuner skis, but the Cat skis.

Do you have the parts no. for the 2016 front spring? Or a link to the Zbroz 145 pound spring you mention on FB? I couldn't find one on their web site.

Here she is, got her in house two weeks ago.
Still waiting for the Curves and other stuff to arrive, but the snow isn't anywhere close so no rush, other than the normal wrenching abstinence
I was hoping Hygear would run another promo on the linkage kit but looks like it won't happen anytime soon, so not sure yet whether to get it, and whether I should go for the Dual Pressure for my rear Float 3 or swap the Float 3 for a Fox Zero Pro coil over? I might as well wait and see whether a Black Friday or Xmas promo pops up
I've been looking at different front bumpers but not really found any I like, so I started to mock up my own, using some plastic tubes and duct tape. Not 100% satisfied yet, and need to check for front end travel clearance and hood removal clearance. And, need to find someone who can weld alloy
