Re: Friends Don't Send Friends to Gable Yamaha - Cobleskill,
That sled looks ridden hard and put away wet.
Also, thanks for bringing this up again joe, there is definitely a problem here. Some of the true blue guys will never believe Yamaha could make such a mistake, but dont get discouraged you will have a stronger case than I since I had an aftermarket turbo which essentially equates to a "$hit out of luck warranty".
Good Luck!

Exhaust flex joints are the probable cause, but I've also seen the exhaust flanges fail. The flanges are only welded on the inside, if you ever have yours apart, pull the flanges and tig weld around the outside. Turbo sleds are even more likely to have this happen due to the higher exhaust temperature. The turbo sleds do exactly as others have said, they lose power just before they burn. Cracked/broken exhaust means less turbo boost. All the ones I've seen or heard of that burnt were turbo charged.

I will have to look at mine more closely on the preseason, the two times it went on it's side gas ran on the snow. I don't remember if it was an overflow tube (vent) or from the belly. Either way I had a beverage and let it evaporate. On a side note a friend stopped on the trail because he could smell gas strongly. Upon opening the hood on his Rage, the engine was covered. The vent tube popped off and gas would splash on the engine, as well as the handlebar padding. Took several beverages to let all that gas evaporate, clean shorts too.
Its not that I am doubting you guys its just that I am saying it is part of the game.I think the manufacturers do alot to alleviate fires and probably more could be done but frankly I would rather have them invest thier $ in other improvements.I cannot think of any machine powered by gasoline that at one time or another started on fire somewhere.Do a google search their is tons of documentation of every brand having fires.I think I said it before. If that worried get a firesupression system like topfuel dragsters have and if you smell gas or feel something different stop and look, fix before a fire.Your chances of slipping on ice getting out of truck and breaking your neck are much greater than having a fire.

I have some interesting information for you Phazer owners. I know Brent (topic creator) and broke this news to him immediately.
I just called my insurance company to put some coverage on my wife's (new-to-her) Phazer. The insurance agent told me that the Phazer is on their "un-insureable" list. She said there are a handful of models that they are unable to provide coverage for and that one is on the list.
Isn't that interesting.
