I still can't see why there isn't alot of underhood heat? that location of the turbo looks EXCACTLY the same as the kit MCX came out with in 03, before they decided to go rear-mount... And, there was ALOT of problems with underhood heat on those...
Kit looks sharp, and after the reports, it sounds like it's FAST also, but I just can't believe it's trailable....

You can ride it like a stock machine on the trail all day long. just at a much lesser throttle opening being the only difference. I can cruise at 100 MPH at around 1/4 throttle opening. Stocker you would be close to wide open. As for heat, I don't even have that reflectorized alum tape on the stock plastic. Lets put it this way, the heat that comes out is not enough to warm your fingers if they are cold and you stop to warm them up. The first outing we rode three days and put on 480 miles and it didn't show any signs of problems. Fast is an understatement. It is faster than the best 1000 improved stock dragrace sleds, and runs on 92 octane pump gas to boot. Turn the key and go, other than to check the connection to the wideband, replace the slides once, and add weight to the primary, it has not had a wrench laid to it. I was hoping to get out this weekend as they were calling for a foot of snow here, but so far, it has quit snowing and I still see grass. Strange winter for sure.

Just received a foot of snow overnight. Took the kids and the wife out. Put on another 50 miles. You can ride as slow or as fast as you'd like without any worries. I had better get this sled sold so I can get another ready for next year. I'm going to put it in the classifieds if anybody is interested. It is not going to be cheap, it is however perfection at its finest. Mike Knapp#17

I surely know who you are and am nto trying to be difficult as an interest in Apex turbo has been thee for a number of years it is just the reliability factor that stalls any thougths of moving forward with a turbo. So are you saying with a grand total of approximately 600 miles it is now trail proven and reliable??? I am not disputing it makes power as it has it guaranties but does that same guaranty come with reliability over a real winter and 3-5000 up nord miles of trail use???

#1. I won't guarantee nothing, I don't make the kit.
#2. Does a Cat have a 5000 mile guarantee? I know you had better change the pistons on a t-cat by 4500 miles or bad things will happen.
#3 I'm saying it has been good to 535 miles thus far. I would have 3500 miles on it if it was a decent winter at all. Mother nature is just not cooperating.
Not trying to be a smartie, just trying to put it in perspective.

gsxr, I should finally have a chance to ride the Apex Simons CPR turbo kit this week. We have 8-10" of fresh snow and calling for another foot of snow during the week here. All we have locally for riding is ditch riding, unfortunately last week was too warm and put a bunch of water on top of the ice we had on the rivers, so I won't be able to do a bunch of high speed riding, but will be able to do slow trail type speed riding and give a good report!

Interesting reply. As you say not trying to be a smartie just trying to put things in perspective I would think that if you are coming on this forum with everyone knowing very well who you are and your accomplishments promoting this kit as the next best thing I should surely hope you have a more vested interest in caring about whether it lives or not before you make your posts. 2) Cat as all manufactureres do have warranty on new sleds regardless of miles so do all manufacturers. I know of a few Mach Z 1000 twins with over 10000 miles on same pistons but not sure what this has to do with anything I am asking and 3) I assume nothing and if I am going to pay my hard earned money for a kit I surely like to know the whole story and make a rational decesion based upon that. It appears you assume 3500 miles it will last but in the same brief would not warranty anything.
In your knowledgable humble opinion will a kit like this last 3000 miles without problems????

Puddy , I think that is a pretty general question when asking will it last 3000 miles without problems ? if taken care of and not abused there is no question that motor can sustain 3000 miles runnning at 12lbs of boost at times . How would a person warranty something like this ? Mike Knapp is selling a sled that is proven fast and which the turbo system is installed with perfection which alot of people are incapable of doing .

My sled is only at 12 psi about .5% of the time. Most times its less then 5* running trails.

puttytatman, I may not understand where you are coming from. Yes, I would normally put on 3500 miles per year. Yes, it should easily last many more times those miles in my opinion. That is my reason for posting, is to give first hand info to the guys on this site waiting for info. All I can give you is the story to date. Sorry I don't have more miles than that as its been a poor winter. If I didn't think it would last, I would not have it on my machine. I am not the one to give any warranties as CPR builds these kits. I have no vested interest in CPR. Don't know weather you are asking about kits, or the sled. Hope that helps.
