I knew about the YZ's (owned a few in my younger years but have barely been changed since 2005) but did not know about the waverunner having an 800 twin....interesting.I know your speaking about the snowmobile business when you say "Yamaha got out of the 2 smoke business a long time ago". This is only true for the sled business as Yamaha still makes and constantly refines a YZ 125 and 250 two stroke, and a SuperJet Waverunner, which coincidentally has a 800 twin in it's belly.

From someone who sells both Yamaha snowmobiles and outboards, I cannot see Yamaha going back to two stroke technology. In 1995 when they came out with the first 4 stroke outboard they never looked back. Snowmobiles were the same way in 2003.
I could be wrong though, Yamaha has always thought outside the box.

Actually that superjet is 701cc and not available in Canada....but listed as a new model on the US site.did they just bring this model back into production? If so maybe there is a new 2 stroke coming.I know your speaking about the snowmobile business when you say "Yamaha got out of the 2 smoke business a long time ago". Wouldn't surprise me if Y introduced a 2s, it would be part of the BS! Aka " business strategy" how ironic. They've done it before, say they would never or just this one time and then do it anyway or continue relations far beyond what was stated. It seems that's it is becoming the norm at the Y.

I doubt that the old Superjet 701cc technology is used for a snowmobile application.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but not sure anyone is saying the superjet motor or technology (or lack of tech) is going to be used in a sled application. Rather that Yamaha in fact still does make 2-strokes. And yes it is a 701, not an 800, my bad.

Still point is they have a great direct injection developed and can produce one. They may swallow their pride as most mountain and snocross guys and the "i think I'm a snocross trail rider" want 2 stroke. I think you would see a huge influx of riders if they did produce it. As much as it doesn't sound plausible because of their let's move on from 4strokes. Although they could just say well let's join them if it's what the market wants

No i wasn't suggesting that they were going to use that engine but maybe a two stroke.Correct me if I'm wrong, but not sure anyone is saying the superjet motor or technology (or lack of tech) is going to be used in a sled application. They may swallow their pride.....
Yamaha will NOT do that. It's business and the business is to make money and appease the shareholders. Not swallow pride.

This is true. Everyone else abandoned ship aside from KTM so maybe. Wish in one hand and poop in the other.

Meh... Take the C-Tech, rebrand with Yamaha nomenclature, then stick yamaha clutching on it. Toss on some red or blue plastics and viola! SR Viper 2 stroke with Genesis-Tech 2(aka G-Tech2)
Million dollar idea. Yamaha are you listening?
I am so kidding. Need to have the heart of the Yamaha to get my $$$$.

And if the market is demanding 2strokes don't you feel shareholders and a smart businessman would swallow their pride and build one?Yamaha will NOT do that. It's business and the business is to make money and appease the shareholders. Not swallow pride.

If Cat builds a 800 twin and Yamaha sticks some plastics on it why wouldn't you just buy a Cat. Looking at prices the Cats are cheaper!

With where our Dollar/Peso is the Viper will be some where passed $20000.00 the Apex or it's replacement will be in the $25000.00 range.
Cat and Syphilis coming out of the US won't be any better.
Doo probably won't need to ship a sled to my part of the world for a couple years. go to 7 or 8 dealers around here and you'll find a 1000 sleds in crates.
One Doo dealer alone had 47 guys back out of snow cheques because of the patch.
We are in the midst of another no snow winter with all dealers sitting with a lot of inventory, over 3000 used for sale on Kijjiji and no selling.
So not a lot of interest from sellers and probably less from buyers.

I have no interest in going back to a 2 stroke. Has anyone built a reliable 2 cylinder 2 stroke above 700cc? Only one that comes to mind are the old zr 800/900. The only 2 stroke I would be remotely interested in would be a small.....600 to 800cc.... 2 stroke direct injected TRIPPLE. With todays tech they could build that light enough to get interest. Smooooooth power!!
