Is a brand new ECU from Yamaha plug and play, or does it need to be flashed by the dealer to function?

I probably should have gone with a used ECU, but a brand new, updated version ECU is currently reasonably priced, so I went new. Hopefully, it doesn't need to be programmed, since many of the Yamaha dealers in my area have closed their doors.I have some good used ECU's here if you need one.
A search on this forum hasn't given me a solid answer on this. Has anyone replaced their ECU with a new one, and did it require dealer programming?
Thanks!
Just has to be right Part # since it is Driver size specific. Engine hrs are stored in there also.
