2020 STX-GT
New owner of a 2020 Sidewinder STX-GT as of today that I ordered last spring. I haven’t rode or owned a sled since I was a kid but time to get back into it. Any tips of what to watch for with these models and any must have gear to carry or parts that are prone to break and leave you stranded things like that?

looking forward to some snow this year!!!

Congrats on the purchase! Plenty of help and info here!

Couple photos from the dealer today while signing papers.

Live in farm country in Western MA so have hundreds of acres right around the house to play on and the local club has some OK trails through the area. Other than that plan on heading up to VT at least a few times this year.

Learn to ride it first.
Then i'm picking you up and taking you down a very Exciting, Dangerous path of Addiction that the only rehab needed is SNOW!
Your wife is NOT going to like me

Dude, it is a Yamaha, wont need a thing. I always carry a spare belt and jumper cables just in case, other than that you are good to go.
If you are getting back into it and have not ridden today's technology, wow are you in for a huge surprise!
Welcome to the best snowmobile website in the world, I mean that!

You must live under a rock...

track shaft spinning in bearing, frozen roll-over valves, loosenong screws in chain case, front wiring harnesses that short to chassis up by fuse block, etc, etc)

Plenty of information that you may find helpful. If I'm honest (and I know stevewithOCD will agree with me), take that spaceship up to Moosehead Lake, Millinocket, or Aroostook County in Maine instead of Vermont - HUGE sweeping trails, nice long straights, NO speed limits (until you hit something, of course), and the registration is only $100. As a kid and when I first learned to ride, Vermont is nice. But there is just no comparison to the trails in Maine when matched with the capability of that 'Winder.

Wow a $100 for registration. How many years is that good for.
I guess we got it good here then $30 for 3 years in WI

Ouch, tough crowd. Yeah there are some issues, not compared to when he rode as a kid. Not sure how long ago it was but years ago you carried oil, plugs, tow ropes and rode with a buddy since no phones to get a ride/tow out of the woods.
