I have not seen it on mine but could it be stuck. Did you try just pulling it off and cycle it with it off the sled?

My mtx does this when she's cold, after warms up or a short ride the reverse works perfect , local dealer couldn't do anything with it , along with my last ride the rail tips wore through and spit the slides out the back , Yamaha wouldn't cover it under warrenty , track is run loose as possible and tips were completely wore through

My thundercat had a reverse issue near end of season. Don't remember the code but turned out it was a bad connection. Two dealers thought it would e something different as i guess there was some issues ar least on the cat side but likely same with the winders

Got it figured out this week. Took the electric motor apart and found it was full of condensation causing it to not run. Got it dried out and it works good again. I'm guessing that it will eventually freeze in the winter and cause the same issue until it gets warmed up.

Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

I am sure there is some kind of spray that you could use to prevent corrosion just not site what.

I haven't decided if sealing the motor housing to the plastic gear box would help or not. It doesn't take much moisture at all to cause the error to start. I just dried everything really good and put it back together.Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?
When this happened, the sled had never been washed with a hose or run on water. I'm guessing just the different temps & weather caused the condensation to build up.

Everytime mine does it its when I go for a ride and leave the sled outdoors for the evening , next day go out and hit reverse and sd-08 everytime ! I'm def goin to be sealing mine or filling it with dielectric grease or something that'll prevent it from happening anymore !
It's a major pain when you leave it on a sled deck or something along those lines , when she has been ran I guess it dries out and works fine

could always hit it with brake kleen or a product that is a water dispersant and dielectric grease in one.

Just coming back from a 3 day trip up north with 4 to 6 feet of powder and very cold.
Every morning, I got the SD-08 code but the code disappear after warming up...! Sunday afternoon the code came back on and did not dissapeared...
Not able to put in reverse... very annoying!

I wonder if spraying the outside with some of that wire dry stuff would help. Back in the day I used to use that stuff on all my electrical connections on my sleds and under the hood of my car and it worked great.

I had this problem legit everytime I left the wonder outside after a ride last year ! This year during my fall maintenance I unbolted the motor from the gearbox and pulled it off, took some dielectric grease and smeared it on all the sealing surfaces between motor and gearbox . I’m saying this don’t use too much now just enough that when you close the back together a small bit will spew out the entire way around which I wiped around with my finger . So far this year I’ve deliberately parked front on every time this year and have yet to get the code

Thanks! My sled is at the dealer for its first maintenance and will see what the dealer suggest to fix that problem!
