2010 phazer RTX
I've read so many threads over the years and have heard so many people say that the phazer is only good for the newbie, the kid, the wife, the GF.!!!
What a bunch of BS... It's a machine that you really have to ride not just hang on. Riding with three phazers a couple weeks ago and we were in some really twisty trails maintaining 45-60mph ( I'll admit I was the slow one of the 3... Lol) at some points I was hard on the gas and I know ATV PRO#11 was going into the corners at 65-70mph way out in front of me.
Not sure how many sleds can hang with that for a 5-10 mile run.
It's a sled with a high centre of gravity which gives the feeling of being tippy only cause the riders input is a must to correct this. Front to back ball abc is great.
I had a friend with the mind set that the Phazer was a good wife sled... Lol wrong, her first solo ride on a sled ever and she flipped it, didn't get hurt but scared the hell out of her enough that she will not ride again and he had to get rid of it. ( I blame him partly for not teaching her better).
Just be careful in your mind set when putting somebody new to sledding or new to your phazer for a test ride.

I constantly get the comment about when am I going to upgrade. I ran into the guy I bought my sled from and he was surprised I was still riding it. It was his wife's and she barely rode it. Just because its 500cc does not make it a kids/wife sled. I enjoy riding it and see no reason to replace it. It has more than enough power for me and goes as fast as I need it.

It would not be my choice as the sled for a newbie with no sledding experience. I would put them on a Ski Doo MXZ 600 ACE. But if a kid/newbie is used to dirt bikes - they will love this sled.

It's nice to see people with the same thoughts.

Another consideration for me is my wright. I'm only 145lbs and I find the higher hp sleds are not sutiable for me.

I AGREE!!!!!

HOW IN THE HELL is a sled that can go 85-90mph a kids toy???????

I don't care about what people think I just worry for the safety of some people. I have 4 kids and I won't be letting them take the reigns anytime soon, and when my oldest does it will be with some serious supervision.

End rant.

I agree. It always scares me when I see the age of some kids on the trial system on their own sled with way too much power.

Guys with the Nytro's ribbin ya at work again :die Or soon to be Viper Turbo's..... Don't worry, we'll keep em in check once you get them carbides!!
Glad I have had the pleasure of meetin you and enjoying the trail system together :sled1:

I can completely agree and see where your coming from. For me personally I kinda like being the underdog a wee bit out there. I like sitting there listenning to the war stories while I know 97% of the guys out there can't push hard for longer than a km or 2 tops before they themselves run out of wind or arm pump so bad they cant hang on anymore. In the trails mainly, not that it's a race, but you buy a high perforamce 140hp +/- Pro-cross chassis machine for 30-40% more the money of a Phazer and realistically the best bang for the buck is going to the Phazer. Even after upgrades. Even being only 80Hp. Things some of the big dogs don't realize is thses lil Phazers can really put the power down, very nimbly anywhere under 95/100km per hr. I I've riden with some friends last season who ribbed me like crazy. 800skidoo, apex, vector and a Nytro. All of which had no idea I was 5' behind there bumper on the trails and when they paused to look back I pounced. Granted passing on 2 ways are dangerous in the trails. But out in the open or 1 ways, fair game. 2 of which of fellow racing buddies so very comfortable around them . Flat out and i'd be eating snow dust again but hey, I didn't buy it for top end speed only. And of coarse, again, I have to be comfortable with who I riding with or around. This all on the 07. The 14 is totally different to corner but comfort level is getting better every km I put down. I'm scared to say much more or the other guy I ride with, Viper, I know has more in the tank and just may put me in my place after reading this :moon:

Is it a race, Nope. It's not who's fastest, it's totally all about the fun factor getting from point to point. Racing being part of my passion for many years, I race myself into every corner. If i'm tired and want to rest after 1km that's where I test myself. Push for another 5 hard whooped out km's in the twisties then take a break. Some guys have fancy gyms at home. Me, I put 3-4 extra bottles of water in the backpack.

Realistically is the Phazer a good begginer machine, I don't know. 12000k w/07 and 3500 on my very first sled 4 years ago (500SS) I've only ever seen 1 Phazer out on the trail. Once I saw the dual pipes on it and heard it go by.... I WANTED ONE!! That's alot of K to not see another one out there. See alot of ladies riding with their friends but no Phazers. With selling mine to my good friend I'm thinking after his crash a couple days ago I'd lean strongly towards it not being a great starter machine. I know I'm not pushing the throttle, he's a great friend, but at the end of the day I absolutely don't want to see ANYONE hurt. This was his 2nd crash. I'm feeling a little heavy hearted and maybe shouldn't have praised the Phazer such that I did
As for kids on the system with a machine, two thumbs up. Some kids have the gift of respecting the throttle. They just have to watch out for the people that dont' respect the BOTTLE. I choose ZERO

Finally, i've riden dirtbikes, grew up on 3 wheelers and race/ride quads. This Phazer is the closest thing to riding my YFZ450 than any dirt bike i've ever riden. Not even close to dirtbike ergonomics or riding style. No disrespect to all those who compair to dirtbikes, it's just my opinion :hide:

If at the end of the day your riding partners whine because your not fast enough or always have to wait, you shouldn't give them the pleasure of having your company. ;)!

Buddy, I thought my rant was long winded.... Lol j/k

I agree 100% and yes there is always the exception with a newbie that has experience / respect in another motor sport.

As for the turbo viper... If I head into the trails in front of him he will probably put in the trees coming out of the corners trying to make up ground that the phazer will keep going in... Lol. ( after some more lessons, tips and riding time in your snowed out dust wake, my friend... [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12] lol

It was never really marketed as an "entry level" sled at the start, it was marketed to the Boy Racer/Sport quad/Dirtbike crowd and handles as such. It's meant to be easier to tip and stand up on and does very well when ridden like that, also makes the chassis a great flatland powder sled and why so many people turbo charged them into real mountain sleds! If your going to sit down and turn the bars all day the Phazer isn't the sled for you.

Agreed, I think it's more the uninformed look it's a small 500cc group of people.
As I said before I know there are some kids/woman that will handle the machine and keep you looking at their tail lights.
Just keep it safe for that entry level person you want to bring out to ride "the lil phazer" :)

Agreed! !!! Have a friend who gave his 12 year old a 700 to ride. He has rolled/ wrecked 3 times that I know of. This in less than 200 miles. Gives me crap for the "slow" 340 my son rides. Uhmmmmm. .. he is 3 years younger than your kid, rode 500 plus miles last year and the worst he has done is hit the back of my sled when I stopped short with deer in front of me.

No, we don't ride together with our families.
