Finally was able to put miles on my new sled the other day.... 95 to be exact.. Was a fun ride, absolutely enjoyed the hell out of the sled. Very happy with the sled, until i noticed this.....
Brought the sled in the garage cleaned it up and everything, noticed the next day I had a very small puddle of anti freeze underneath it. Looked to see where it was coming from and saw that I must had hit something? Nothing that I remember hitting hard. I seen post of people noticing that their coolant lines were loose and have small leaks. Im going to have to look into this further to pin point exactly where this leak is coming from. See attached pictures. The heat exchanger is in front of the track i see that....... can anyone tell me what is on the otherside frame shown in the picture???

Nothing that would leak coolant. Its a low point so it just pools there. I am sure its one of your hoses leaking. From the location of that drip I would suspect the hose at nipple on top of heat exchanger. Fix leak install skidplate and ride!

I would agree its a clamp leaking. Once you find it put a few drops of Blue Loctite on the clamps worm screw so it wont loosen up again, better yet do them all.
I might add it could be leaking somewhere in front of the heat exchanger and just running back to that area since its the low point so take a good look around.

Thanks for the information, that makes me feel alot better! Ill try taking off the plate underneath the sled and check the hoses coming off the heat exchanger.

Also, what kind of skid plate are people using for the Viper. Ive been watching one on eBay which looks legit. Would like to order one ASAP seeing how unprotected the sled is underneath there/.

i am running Yamaha skid plate . mine is blue fits great can be a pain to install but it works.

The rear skid plates out of the Yamaha catalog which are made by A.C. are pretty good protection for the price. This old post has a bunch of skid plate pictures:

My new viper was leaking at the hose right at the thermostat housing . Pain in the #*$&@ to get at . Hood came off and air box. I re tightened all the hose clamps I could get at too . Damn yamaha .brand new sled jeez

Are the skid plates mounted with rivets? Because what about when you have to change the oil??

Nuts and bolts and some self tapers also. Its really not that big a deal to remove like some guys make it out to be, once your tools are ready on the sleds in the air you can the skid plate off in about 5 mins..
Change your oil in the off season when your dreaming about snow .

Check all of your coolant hoses. Told my dealer to check them all before I brought her home. Low and behold the one they did not check was the one that leaked. If you are close to your dealer I would take it back there so the leak can get logged and maybe one day someone will fire the sob that has the job of putting these clamps on at the arctic crap factory.

Found the leak thanks to everyone that commented! I was so worried I ruined the heat exhanger and was leaking.
In the pictures youll see the hose that was leaking. Looks like its the hose coming from the thermostate. I was able to loosen the hose clamp from the side entry then allowing me to turn it. I was able to work around having to take the air box off. Only had to remove hood, and was able to tighten that hose clamp the CORRECT WAY!!! Thanks agian for all the advice! I can always count on the TY Forum

I just did this on my new 2015 viper yesterday also . I took the hood and airbox off so I can get at the clamp. I also turned clamp around a tightened it up . Went for a ride today with sled and it's all good . Brand new sled , we shouldn't have to being doing this . Jeez . Lol

I agree this is the first time Ive bought a brand new sled ive always bought used lol and this was my first expirence.. Oh well could have been worse!
Great job! I agree this should not have to be part of break in. It does end though. No leaks all year now here. I highly recommend the Yamaha skid plate for everyone.
