noticed no difference with ecp kit!!!!!!!!!

Fist off...no flames aimed at me please...these are real questions from someone who is already sold on the ECP kit as soon as I make sure my engine doesn't need a rebuild (no snow=no test riding to run Seafoam through it). Anyway, back when I asked about prices, I was given a price of well under $200. Now I have seen several prices posted of around $260. But again I see on this thread "under $200". So, what is the actual price? $260? $160? Something in between? And I also am curious about the clutch kit. I really don't want to touch the clutching if I don't have to...when my Cat was clutched by a well known New England shop I couldn't keep a belt on it...I got about 40 miles per belt on a good day...1 run across a lake on a bad day. I had to go back to stock. It took 3 tries before someone was able to get a clutch setup on the Cat that worked. WILL the ECP filter kit give power without clutching, or will I regret buying it because there isn't much difference with stock clutching? I know nothing about clutching, and am not ready to learn yet, so I'd rather leave the stock setup than start blowing belts or have other problems.

Jim, I had the kit installed. Matt will setup the clutch for you. All of the testing has been done. Once installed it is plug and play. Both he and Freddie have many many hours of testing and I believe they can give you a setup that is correct, right out of the box. Several of the people I ride with in NY have the kit and love it. I have only had the chance to run up and down a football field a dozen times or so with it. I know this is not scientific, but by the time I was in midrange, I had to shut it down for fear of going into the fence. It was scary how fast this thing took off compared to the stock setup. I will report more when I can get some long runs in the trails or on the lake. I know these guys are in business to make money, but the time they take to answer all of your questions and help with support, they are making peanuts, trust me. I think the bottom line is that inorder to get the full value out of the air kit, you will need to address your clutching. I think you will still see improvements over you current setup without clutching, but not full potential. Most eveyone is reporting better gas mileage, thats a good thing with all of your long trips.

Hey YamahaJunkie!! I strongly suggest you continue to either tighten the track as you go since it will continue to stretsh as you break it in. 200 Miles really isn't much. I would also recommend pulling up your limiter straps just a touch if yo continue to have problems. Camoplast tracks are real tough and take awhile to stretch out. Good Luck ;)!

nhrxrider...My air kits never sold for under $200.00. The complete kit cost the same from Matt at The Speedshop or me at ECP. The price si $265.00 complete with everything you need to install it.

Perhaps someone bought a partial kit or maybe a used one but they never sold new for under $200.00.

I did get my springs from holtz.
That's the reason. I did the same thing on my first kit with Freddie. Matter of fact, when I first bought from him he didn't have kits yet.

I just bought a used "ECP Kit" off the "Classifieds" forum (haven't actually received it yet). Did not mention "springs" in the ad. My question is....
what springs? Where would I get them, what to ask for, and what to do with them?

I debated about just buying the ECP Kit/Simmons CPR II from The Speedshop but thought I could save a buck by getting the ECP Kit from the Classifieds, then buying just the clutch from Matt. Hope it works out. :?

Grassfirebob, the springs they are referring to are the carb slide springs. You can either contact Holtzman direct or contact Freddie. Holtzman is where the actual springs are from but Freddie may be able to sell you just the springs. It would also be a good idea to contact Freddie since I recall him testing a different color (blue???) spring in the offseason; not sure if they were better than the silver springs. Either way, the springs are only like $35. I had bought the green ones from Holtzman before purchasing the ECP filter kit and then ended up using the springs that came with the kit.

nhrxrider, I have the kit with no cluch kit and I love it .

I cant even believe the start of this thread , Freddie has done too much testing and posted numbers for this not to work.
I agree with others someone must install it wrong to have no results, and or they have no accurate way to test the results.
Mine now pulls like a freight train and I have stock clutching

The kit includes the springs.

I know ,and have done business with Fred Klies of ECP. Of course all are entitled to their opinions on an open forum, but before bashing,I would certainly take him up on his open offer of technical support. His business principles are sound I can assure you.

Freddie is the best. He is a model for customer service and his technical understanding of performance cycles and sleds is second to none. I have visited Freddie's shop twice and spoke to him many times. He is always willing to help and share his knowledge. He developed his kit because of his passion for performance not as a "get rich quick" scheme. He would not have marketed it if it didn't show solid improvements.

Ill tell ya what... NO RX-1 WILL BEAT A 05 F7 SP without the kit..

My sled can beat my buddies 05 F7 SP and 05 F7 standard.. By 2+ sled lenghts up to whatever speed you want...

SLed is night and day compared to stock.. ... Its like a 30hp shot of nitors in comparison..

ALL THE NAYSAYERS JUST DONT KNOW WHAT THEY DID WRONG.. Filters werent own the whole way or pilot jets were plugged or had a plug cap off or belt was worn out..

I know how much of a difference the kit makes, so this has nothing to do with that part of the discussion. But did the '05 F-7s go up in power over the '04s? I have beaten an '04 with my mechanically stock '03 RX-1 (no kit), so I was wondering what was different about the '05s from the '04s.

Most F7s only have the crappy 1inch track... The 05 SnoPro has the 1 3/8 track!! They are consistantly dynoing out at 145-150 HP.. Compared to the Mid 130s the 03 had..(they run alot leaner on the topend.. HENSE why they have to use soo much oil)

Did i mention my buddie had a 50lb weight advantage on me?? So there was a 150lb difference between me and him on our sleds!

The new F7s are very fast out of the box... Its no wonder alot of them can beat the zr900s..
