I have a Nytro Buggy and I'm needing to put a different clutch on the motor. Yamaha uses a thin belt and because of size constraints I need to use a longer belt than Yamaha has, so it is wider. I took apart the stock clutch and put in a spacer on the fixed sheve to make it wider but it is not square. It works but wobbles a bit, my question is this: what is the taper bore on the motor? I have tried a Skidoo and Arctic cat clutch but the bore is much larger and not the correct taper. I know about supreme tool and machine but they are big $.

A quick vid of last weeks testing.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

omg that is ficken sweet man !!!!!!!!!!

You need to pull the limiter straps up a hole or two.

And, no, I don't know the specs on the clutch taper. But I bet Supreme Tool does.

Just a idea but here is where my head is at... since the output shaft is separate from the crank I would think a guy could cut it to polaris' taper (assuming it is smaller).

BTW, this is Rick who bought your RMK a few years back. The pilot looks good!

You know the best way is always the most expensive!!!

You could put a pol. clutch and get it bored ..that way you can adjust it for a bigger belt ... Hartman can do it and may even have one

Polaris clutch like said above would probaly be your best bet unless you want to spend big money.
That thing is pretty sweet!

Thanks for the comments guys, I needed something in the summer to occupy my time between ridin' seasons.

Rlcofmn, Hey good to hear from you, with you on the Yami board what are you riding these days?

09Nytro I'm thinking the Polaris taper bore is larger than the Yamahas much like the Skidoo and Arctic Cat clutch is, but I have not verified that. I asked a machine shop about machining me some spacers and give that another try. It was a definate NO GO on machining a spacer for one of the larger taper bore clutches on the Nytro motor. (machine a spacer with a inner taper for Yamaha and a outer taper for the inside of a Arctic Cat clutch).

Going to test and tune again tomarrow if weather holds out. Hopefully I'm not :exc: with my testing. It's fun anyhow.
