with the phazer having to run on premium,i was wondering if premium is not available at a certain location could you just run regular and add octane boost to compensate.i know it wont bring the octane level high enough but would it be enough to keep the light shut

The Phazer will run fine on regular. The only difference is a 4 hp reduction. If you are riding in an area with only regular it will be fine.

^Yup, thats exactly right.
If you cant find 93 octane, just put in 89 or 87. If detonation starts to occurr, the engine will retard the ignition timing untill the detonation stops.
You will lose some power, but you will at least be able to make it home.
Im not sure if it would be a good idea to run 87 in it all the time, but you should be OK on 87 if thats all the gas station has.

Supposed to run 91 octane in the R-6 which I do. However I know others with the R-6 who just run regular. It won't hurt it. Recommended though that you run it when you can.

i just dont want to see that light come on all the time cause we do alot of northern ontario riding and some small towns dont have super or that the price is ridiculously high.ive been to a few places where premium was like double the price of regular.dont want to hurt the engine

Here in the states 93 is about 20 cents cheaper than 87. So, its going to cost about $1.80 more per tank to run 93. No biggie.
This past summer I took my '06 Yamaha YFZ 450 trail riding. Its supposed to get 93, but all they had was midgrade (89). I was running on fumes so I put in 89. It ran fine the whole rest of the day, but its not as if I was racing it (wasnt on the limiter all the time and working the engine hard).
Im going to run 93 in mine. Running 93 all the time is a lot cheaper than having to rebuild the motor.

Dont waste your money on octain boosters.. THey are gimiks.. there are only a FEW real octain boosters that raise the fuel ratings.. and they are so expensive that it doesnt make sense to buy them.. and they are not carried in most stores..

This is proven info..
