I just did my first oil change and the operators manual states capacity is 2.8 L or 3 U.S. quarts, I have 2.8 L in now and the oil level is way below the min line on the oil tube. How much has anyone that has done an oil change put in to fill the oil tank ? Also to change the oil with out removing the muffler is next to impossible .

Did you remove the oil plug from under the belly pan plate and drain that? I try and just use a evacuator in the oil tank to suck that out. Not sure why the muffler has to come out?

It takes a bit over 3 1/2 quarts to the max mark. If you remove the foot sleeve it's very easy to get the drain plug out.

yes I did remove the oil plug under the belly pan and changed the oil filter , is that why it is taking more oil ? Muffler removed to get at the drain plug maybe my hands are too big.

The 3 quarts in the manual must be if you do not replace the filter, Yes I did remove the foot sleeve, I managed to do it without removing the muffler but will not do again without removing the muffler or I will get a pump to change the oil.

I had to put in 3.1L after the first oil change with filter change. That is also what the spec sheet says. 2.8L is just to get you close, before you start it to check oil level.
Be sure to bring the sled to operating temp, shut off and wait 5 mins and then check... should be right in the middle if you add 3.1L.

If you remove the torx screw holding the bottom plastics on by your left foot well and peel it away, you can easily fit a stubby ratchet or a short ratchet wrench to aid in the removal of the oil tank drain plug.

There is so much confusion out there, as to when is the best time to change oil... is best to do it before you store the machine or is it best to do it before the season starts? My sled is stored in the garage.. don't know if tha th makes a difference.. what everyone's thoughts?

Do you really want dirty oil sitting/settling in your sled for 5-7 months between use? Or stored away with clean oil . Very easy decision in my books.

There is no confusion, just differing opinions. If you ask for everyone's thoughts you aren't going to clear anything up.
What makes sense to you? The only thing we will all agree on is that you need to change it.

Always spring for me. Dirty oil acidic. Removing the muffler and applying new anti seize is a good thing.
