Oil check mystery

Cant really find a definitive answer on 14 viper with site glass window
What the prope level and procedure to check

Drained tank filter and engine
Took 3 qurats till at 2/3 window after reaching 150 and shutting off.

Is this seem right

I thought there supose to take more oil or is it holding some in hoses

Holding some in the Hoses. If you empty everything really good it will take 3 1/2 qts.
