Re: 0il
Unfortunately "using any good oil" is not enough anymore.
(It was until late last year.)
The ZDDP was reduced/eliminated in regular automotive oils due to it causing problems with catalytic convertors.
The newest API service rating requires lowered levels.
Most newer cars (early 90's on) are not effected because they have roller tappets.
You sled does not have roller tappets, they are flat tappets.
They REQUIRE ZDDP or some alternative to be properly lubricated.
You CAN use diesel oil in your sled, it does lubricate as you need, so if you stated "Any good quality Diesel oil will work", you would be correct, provided it has the proper pour point. (That's the hard part with sleds, most diesel oils are highly viscous.)
Diesel oils are unaffected by the new API rating.
I know the NAPA filters are made by Wix, have no idea about the Amsoil filters.

amount of miles you can't go wrong with any good oil.

AMSOIL recently released DOMINATOR RACING OIL, not to be confused with their DOMINATOR 2-stroke RACING OIL. The new DOMINATOR RACING OIL is highly fortified with an additive package the includes health doses of zinc and phosphorus. It comes in 3 viscosity ranges, a 15w-50, a 10w-30 and a 5w-20. But they also offer aplication specific oils such as their POWERSPORTS 0w-40 and SMALL ENGINE 10w-30 that are not affected by the API requirements for automotive oils. That is one of the great things about AMSOIL, they are not a one oil for everthing company.
Amsoil filters are made by Wix and Donaldson. While they are made by the same company as napa filters they are not excatly the same.
