Has anyone taken the cover off of the flywheel side of the crankcase?

After a crankshaft position sensor failure, (300 miles north of the truck) I removed the cover and found quite a bit of oil inside. I called three dealers, with a different answer from each one.

One said that the engine was junk. (blown crankshaft seal)
One said it was perfectly normal.
One said he wasn't sure.

And Yamaha wouldn't tell me anything. (thanks)

I'm not asking for someone to come out and fix it for me, just give me some information on this thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If you're saying what i think you're saying, then yes it's normal. If you look inside with a light you'll see internal motor parts. You are looking inside the motor, not just the flywheel. I took mine apart to add/remove keyway & was caught off guard staring @ internal engine components...
