LOL well I bet your airconditioning works better now than mine does lol so at 1 mile you were at max warp 118 now that's cool. thanksYou didn't get it. I was topped out basically in the first mile. The rest I was tuning the radio and setting the air conditioning.

Hey guys, I did not get in here yesterday after Tom and I rode, here is what I wrote over on DT where I usually am hanging out still......I wrote this up last night when I got back.....i posted it in the DT 1200 forums, but pasting it here now.
Gang......what a day! 110 miles on a new SW LE 137.
I just caught up on this thread and its right up my alley now! Brent went one direction to the 850, and the other direction Im considering is the SW obviously. Two top dog sleds for this season, anyone who bought another SLED that is not a 850 or a SW for 2017 just missed the boat IMO.
I wanted to post this in the MEGA thread on general section but reading this here, I felt I owe it to the 1200 gang since Ive been hanging here alot this past yr or two, love the guys over here. 4s lovers!
I have no comment on the 850, but like hearing Brent's comments from his ride today, along with Jamies and others who i trust completely on their opinions of new sled "feel".
That being said, I got a call from my old friend here, who just so happened to buy a new SW 137" LE just a few weeks ago, he also has a 15' Viper and asked me to ride today, told him im abit landlocked with my lake not quite being ready yet, so he said drive over in the truck and we will ride both my sleds today. I said WOOHOO! OH YES!
I got time on the Viper too(studded) but alot more time on the new SW LE 137(not even studded yet) Im talking bone stock as they come from dealer(Just a tall window added). While the Viper actually felt nice and light up front in steering, The SW with the tuners/ new carbides were monsters, and I can see why everyone removes them ASAP, Yam just misses the boat here installing their "made for EPS" skis on this SW.
Good combination of roads, fast fast fast......high speed rail trail that is groomed MINT and could really fly.....and then some fresh powder on some trails that were untouched and deep, and even a few bumps in between but not many as trails are groomed to a tee. I looked for bumps, and when I got some man O man, the guys were not lying about the Qs3r shocks, these shocks suck up the junk like nothing and the front end just plain works, the 2012 cat felt nothing like this, as you all know my 2012 cat rode like a dump truck, these shocks are a game changer and I want them bad on any sled I end up owning. The seat is still harder then my doo, but since the skid works so well(I clicked them to #1 all around and coils were stock from dealer setting) it does not feel so bad.
It corners so flat, its crazy....I mean you really dont even have to lean to the side on a good firm trail high speed sweeper, just tilt your head basically and it goes with ZERO ski lift and not even a hint of wanting to lift, DOO is not that planted. It does feel like its got weight there, but I was able to push it through some tighter trails by moving forward on seat, the new plastics as opposed to the Viper plastics which are like my 2012 cat, are narrower for good knee wrap around while scooching farthest forward and carving a twisty. Not as nimble or light nosed feeling as my 1200, no way.....but it did not feel alot heavier either, just went where i pointed it and did it all with ease. It does need skis, and more transfer so I agree with all reviews there, that is easily fixed with some pilot 6.9s and removing the blocks out back, but this MAY reduce the ultra flat cornering, but It would bring UP the fun factor with more transfer.
MOTOR......wow, all the reviews are correct..."electric like power delivery", Think Tesla elec sports car....its not necessarily a monster out of the hole as stock clutching is quite tame, but from 40 or so, you hit it and it just does NOT stop pulling....it keep pulling harder and harder til you gotta let off(on trail) or you will be dead fast.....lake running this thing will be just sick, as it keep pulling your arms out like nothing else out of the box stock. It pulls as hard stock as my cat turbo did on stage 2 map with muffler and clutching. Now imagine clutching this SW, wicking it up another 40hp or so, it would be nuts.
The thing I hated about my cat was the noisy muffler I had to install to make that sled fast, since the cat turbo was a total pooch stock(unlike the SW) So you hear this stock SW muffler, its quieter then the viper we had....and you get to about 30mph and from there on up all you hear is wind.....no engine or muffler anymore, just wind....Its so incredible IMO to have a sled this fast, stock and this quiet go this fast....it is why it feels electric! I for one would love to keep stock muffler, its just so amazingly quiet after that cat turbo muffler I had and even my 1200xs is definitely not quiet, and that viper is similar sounding to my 1200...so that is cool quiet performance!
Not sure what else Im forgetting.....but today I put 110 MILES onto a brand new SW which has about 350 miles on the ODO, no studs even....and it felt like a rocket....image with studs! WOW.
I realize the 850 is awesome, and want to ride one....but Im not sure it can eclipse this feeling of power the SW has. I guess it will come down to what kind of riding I want to do mostly....back to more lake and rail line running? Or am I gonna be out running all my tight backtrails on weekends when they are pounded out. These two sleds are so different, and I sorta want them both! haha
pics below are my bud, thanks for the great ride today!
Also...
Couple things I should mention too....
Our doos have some cool things Ive come to appreciate...the gauges we have with all our Modes and handlebar switches, just blow away other gauges. The SW gauges are not bad, but dont do all that much compared to ours. Im geek and I love the MPG we can DOO. And the heaters are just a simple Hi/LOW/OFF button, not even sure if they are lit for night? Items like heated seat are neat, and it works as I could feel it, but not even a lit switch or something on the dash tells you its on, so its sorta low tech with these items compared to our doos.
Forgot to add the brakes are FAR FAR better then my 2012 which were terrible..the Hayes system pulls you down nice and fast with light modulation, and the brake lever itself is abit better then before..but I still prefer a short lever like my doo.
Lastly and most importantly....I ran this SW down the seguin(rail bed) for approx 10 minutes straight from 50 to 70 and up to 90mph many times in between, non stop for 10 mins. I stopped and popped side panel down as I was curious to feel clutches and belt, since they surely must be scorching hot. Well, I put my hand on the secondary and it was barely warm, the primary was just warm....and belt was a tad hotter....but I could lay hand on both clutches for as long as I want, and even hold belt! This impressed me. The entire engine bay up front was cool. Gotta love a reverse mounted engine with ex all out back, true yam engineering there and the way ALL 4s engine should be mounted IMO.

Great review ROCKERDAN, good balanced feedback. BTW the thumb and handlebar heat controls are back lit for night time riding. I have a SW and actually want to ride a 1200 and 850 do0 to make a comparison.

Put 240 miles on yesterday with a friend that has the 850. The SW handles very flat and very smooth with the qs3r shocks.
We have ridden together for many years and are very similar riders. This day I could push him through the trails. He is now going to try new skis on his 850. Something must be wrong seeing a big heavy 4s pushing you through the trail......right?? lol

Dan as usual you do a great job of write ups, very good report,i drove my sons LTX-SE 137 bone stock like this one, unstudded as well, and even though I raced mine on the grass before I wrecked it,i did not like the supersoft low engagement all the time or the weak bottom end right out of the hole, but once I studded it,and got the transfer to work,WOW,so I am thinking with some miles even on all stockers it will get better. you forgot to say how fast you took her up top lol.

Glad to hear a positive report.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there have been some instances where everything was bone stock?
Mine has is bone stock and lots of issues. Everyone is telling me to use aftermarket to fix lol. Guess we are screwed if you do or don't. It's a under warranty and it will get fixed.

Thanks, I sorta thought they must be backlit but it was daytime when i rode toms...lolGreat review ROCKERDAN, good balanced feedback. BTW the thumb and handlebar heat controls are back lit for night time riding. I have a SW and actually want to ride a 1200 and 850 do0 to make a comparison.
that is good!...the heaters sure seem to work well, had them on low and even off sometime and it was about minus 11c most the day. But Tom has that big ole window on there, so that helps! Im used to lower window with handgaurds.

Pete....IMO it will slow you down some, its quite tall, I think Toms is the clear one. I have found on my radar gun that he window needs to be as low as possible but allow your head to tuck behind it for best top speeds.Hey Dan or the owner of the SW we are talking about,is that the mid height smoked shield,if so I have that on mine to,does it feel like it slows ya down any,or increase some.
If I was left with little options like most of you this season, I would likely go with Tcat window. Or even the RR low window like my cat had, may have to mod it to fit?
But Toms was nice and warm for sure, but my OCD makes me crazy when I must look thru something. haha
I would take Toms and trim the top section off right across with a small lip upward, I used to cut all my windows for yrs on sleds and using a good sharp pair of coil stock cutters it usually is easy, and then reinstall a door edge trim and paint them, but ive come to appreciate low clear windows more(doos) as your peripheral vision allows you to see ski tips and the ground nicely, something you dont often think about but Ive come to love with the DOO clear hand guards and doo clear window.

Thanks Dan,i will have to make my decision once I drive mine,my boys is just a tampon to me,on his stock LTX-SE 137,but about 5" taller than what came on my LTX-LE 137,it was so short and tight you had trouble turning the key to start it lol.Pete....IMO it will slow you down some, its quite tall, I think Toms is the clear one.
