- 2016 SRViper M-TX 162
I have a 2016 SR Viper MTX 162 2.6", stock gearing and clutching at low elevation, currently just over 1000 miles (1850km) on it. I have noticed hitting the rev limiter at WOT since new. Tach bounces around a bit, but gets up to 9200rpm or so. It seems to have gotten worse as the engine broke in. I would like to set it up properly.
Are the MTXs clutched for high elevation from factory? Is there an OEM low elevation kit I haven't found yet?
My limited clutching knowledge says add weight, but I've been searching around and haven't found the answer just yet. Is adding weight the best solution, and how much to add?

Easiest solution is to install the Ultimax XS belt. That'll lower about 300 rpms

MTX models are clutched for high elevation from the factory. You need to at the minimum change to the low elevation settings.

This is tremendously helpful. Looks like the only difference is a setting on the secondary spring and adding rivets - sounds about as easy and low cost as I could have hoped for. Here is the spec sheet from Yamaha.
Are the rivets commonly available from online parts stores or dealerships?

I'm revisiting this to get it done now that we're in the off season. I see two different part numbers for steel 17.2mm rivets on the "alternate drive setting" parts list I found for my model and year. Do you know which ones would match the "Steel 17.2mm" for the ~800m setting in the chart? From what I can find on Google searches it looks like the difference is 90269- has a hole drilled in it and is a little lighter. Here is the spec sheet from Yamaha.
Rivet (St17.2Mm)
90269-06006-00
And
Rivet, Countersunk (St17.2Mm)
90261-06033-00
