Overheating, milky UPDATE: NEW MOTOR

Coolant system holds pressure, exhaust sniff test clean, leak down perfect. Lots of pictures and diagnostics sent to Yamaha to understand why the oil is so milky after 200 miles. Waiting on them to respond now. I may have them change oil and go ride it again. Maybe I had a air bubble and actually fixed that on the trail but then got nervous when I saw the oil full of milky crap. The next morning the oil level was back to normal.

Does anyone elses site tube froth up and fill up while riding?

Often a leak down test and/or a coolant pressure test won't expose a head gasket as the culprit, even though it may be. Not saying this is the problem however, but just giving my past experiences.
 
Correct but they also sniffed the coolant for exhaust fumes which would and that is clean meaning no exhaust fumes present in coolant. Also mine took 2 reservoirs full of coolant (I added to the cold line twice) first time was on the trail when it was overheating, 2nd time I had added a cup maybe, and it was gone in the morning as the engine cooled overnight.

Do people check their oil while on the trail and engine is warm, is the site tube generally clean and at the normal level or do they all 'froth' up like mine did?
 
Could it possibly be leaking through the oil exchanger?
 
If that’s the case it would have no exhaust in the coolant
 
you would think you would have oil in the coolant tho too?
 
At first the oil level was plum full per the picture, right to the top of the site tube. So I assumed my coolant was going in there. In the morning the level returned to normal and while still milky looking, it wasn't frothy. My question is, what does your oil site tube look like when driving it warm if you pulled over and took a peek? If they all froth up mine is probably good and I am over reacting. If they all look like I would assume would be clean oil at the normal level then mine has a issue getting water (maybe not coolant) in the oil.
 
I've yet to see one froth up. You'd think if coolant was being pushed into the cooling system, the level would be very high, and overfull of course.
 
Well if it was the exchanger oil would only enter the coolant when running, oil pressure being higher than coolant pressure. After you turned the sled off coolant would leak into the oil. But he has no sign of oil in the coolant so I would say not the exchanger. Yes I do get some froth in my oil right after it’s shut down.
 
A couple weekends ago put 200+ mi on a Friday, -2*F, Saturday morning rode 5 mi into town for breakfast and soon as I parked and shut down I smelled something hot, looked down and a puddle of oil in my right foot well, looked all over to find the leak and couldn't find where it was coming from, both engine and chaincase looked a tad low, proceeded for 140mi that day checking levels often and noted the frothy, cappuccino color of the engine oil as well. Next morning oil level was at the min level rode another 200+ mi back home and changed the oil. Never did find out where it came from
 
Yamaha asked them to remove the water pump and found slimy goop everywhere, they still don't know what the problem is, we just had a blizzard and I'm extremely frustrated at this point.
 
UPDATE: New motor time, they are replacing the entire motor, turbo, etc. I'm not sure how I feel about it. They say it looks like a casting issue internally letting the coolant get into the oil. Also you can not get assembled long blocks from yamaha (Thats what they told me anyway) so they are order every part, gasket, etc separately and will assemble at the dealer. They feel confident they can do this well and it will be better then a mass produced engine.

Such is my luck, first brand new sled ever and it comes with a bad motor and record snow :( I don't even know why I like this sport some days!!! I have located a BRAND NEW 06 apex I may buy!

Hopefully there are no back ordered parts. What are they going to do for your bearings? They won’t know which ones to install until they have the crank and cases.
 
They said they have an assortment of sizes there I guess. Are these motors assembled in Japan or Thief River Falls? I feel like I would trust a new assembled long block over this process but the dealer is doing what they can.
