girlfriends sled overheats all the time. how do you bleed the coolant. and one thing i noticed was a big chunk of snow in front of heat exchanger does this happen alot?

Is it a 07 without fan?If so get the fan.Freeride track helps Icebuildup at front or another option is to close the tunnel in front but then there are risks.

i just pulled out big chunk of slusht snow blocking heat exchanger hope i dont have to do this evertime

you will unless you don't put on the freeride track. The taller lug keeps the exchanger cleaner.

Does it have a fan? Those chunks at front do eventually come off on their own.You will know when they come off since it sounds like a big rock being caught up there. It doesnt happen all the time since snow and temp have to be right for it.

I have a stock track and my sled never over heated once in 3600 miles. Lot of icy, low snow conditions too. You either have a coolant problem, or you don't have the fan.

They way i did it was take a clear tube (one like fish tank air hoses) and put it on the bleed valve. i put the other end in the coolant tank and started the sled. once the coolant started pumping through it would come out the hose and i could see the bubbles if there where any come through the hose.

The bleed valve is a black cap that you should be able to see close to the coolant tank.

Make sure the tank do not empty out or air might be getting sucked into the system.

If you don't have a fan i would get done, makes a big difference.

Excellent tip! ;)!

Fan cured my plugged overheating prob;lem. Today I went for a 4 hr ride and my heat exchanged plugged after about half a hour. I have a digital water temp gauge. It went up to 77 C then the fan kicked it and it dropped the temp to 65 in about 45 seconds. She never overheated at all.

That ice build up you have to try to forget about it, or it'll drive you nuts!

It will also bang up your exhaust when the chunk does come off. That was my main reason for closing off the front.

It got so bad that I bring this along with me. I have it mounted with quick releases to the rear bumper. Bring it out at stops to clean out the slush.
