Paging Ms. La Niña, Ms. La Niña pickup line 998....

Knapp, I am floored your still without. Here south Ontario we had squat last year and I didnt even sit on it, but now we are covered, another 6-8 inches today. Best in a few years, see if it holds through end of March.
Unfortunateley at low speed (25mph) in twisties 30 minutes into first ride in 2 years, I crashed my awesome '17 LTX LE and been out for a while with bruised ribs, thank God for Tekvest, as I slammed the bars with my chest, no breaks, contusion on right thigh from bars is near gone and now shopping for a '23-24 leftover LE with EPS qs3r but might have to settle for qs3 or 9000RR, but love that Yamaha blue.

We just got 2" yesterday. Gives us a whopping 4" on the ground... I almost thought about taking the sled out today but decided against it. The last time I went out in low snow I pulled a stud out of the outside band and ruined a track.

We are way down in snow for the season average. We had 4" in December that thawed and now the 4" we have on the ground which we all know isn't squat. I guess If I want to ride, I should move to a good lake effect snow area or go further north, neither of which is going to happen. We had a good snow year three years ago and got real lucky that year, LaNina was supposed to give us both snowier and colder for this winter, well its been cold enough but we've been lacking in the precipitation department.

Southern Ontario keeps getting hit, we got another 3" while out riding today, and forecasting 8" to a foot before noon tomorrow.

The interactive trail guide hasn't looked this good in Southern Ontario in many years. Where you see red below it is almost all from landowner agreements that had to be resigned this year and have not been processed yet. Most of the yellow trails are due to drifting snow that has not been groomed yet, not lack of snow. Ran into two guys on the trail who had driven from Michigan for the first time.

I nailed the bars with my tekvest. I always wear it.

No trailer? N WI is rideable, so the crowds in the UP should be scattering some. Go blow the cobwebs outta that thing...lol

I know how you feel as there have been years past where we had same in parts of Northern Lower Michigan and it just plain sucked … We have been way above average for this winter and I would like to think it makes up for it… But it really never can… Hang in there and hope it turns around for you…

I think in the area we live, we'd have to go back to the seventies or early eighties for comparison. It snows almost every day.
I've burned through 2.5 tanks of diesel in my tractor blowing and pushing snow in my yard.

Well with a big warmup for us next week with forecasted highs in the mid 40's, It looks like winter snow is just not going to happen for us. We have basically had two 4" snowfalls with warmups in between where the first 4" went right away, but otherwise it's been good and cold. Last year we had two 3" snowfalls and was grossly warm. Three seasons ago we had an epic winter with a bunch of heavy wet snowfalls, the riding was terrific. I'd say on an average we get a decent winter every 5 maybe 4 years. I just had such high hopes because all the news was center on this LaNina that ws supposed to be so terrific for a good cold and snowier than normal winter. We could get 2 foot of snow after next week and ride for a week, I've seen that before a few times too, but right now its not looking good for rideable snow here in southern MN. I know how this goes where some areas get snow and some don't, for whatever reason we seem to be stuck in that area that isn't getting the snow.

I guess theres always next year...

Northern MN isn't much better. Up there last weekend and the trails were smooth but that is really because there isn't enough base to put bumps in them. 50 degrees here yesterday and looking at ELY temps they are above freezing too. It is a long way to Canada but it sure sounds tempting. Every report I get on the UP says trails get beat up by noon each day and are like freeways at rush hour. UGH.

Early Congrats on the new family member!

Just spent 5 days up in MN Arrowead area. Trails were actually very good but they need snow (doesn't everyone?). Not nearly the normal amount of snow this area would usually have. Groomers were doing what they could, State trails groomed every night. There was more snow in the Finland area but grooming not as good. We rode from Cook, MN up to Crane Lake, Rainy Lake area and those trails were very good. Plenty of snow to stretch 998 legs out on Lake Vermilion! I'd say the traffic was light thru Friday and then got busier but still very manageable.
All in all, it was a good trip, nice temps (zero to just below at night, single digits to mid teens during day). Sleds ran great. With forecasted temps this week and no snow in forecast even those trails will deteriorate fast. So much the La Nina winter all the experts predicted.

It looks all but over now. The small snow cover we had in the south metro is gone already. Looking at the trail cams from up north it's going fast.

The rules of winter don't seem to apply anymore. Usually the heavier snow pack areas would hold off the warm ups to a point. When I went to work this morning just before sun up it was 40 degrees here. I have several favorites setup on my phone on my weather apps. It was warmer up north where they actually have snow. At the same moment it was 45 degrees in Houghton, Mi. and the same at the Minnesota/Canada border. It peaked at 54 degrees here today. ugh........

Upstate New York has had FEET/hundreds of inches of snow since January 3rd. Today may be the first day above freezing since December. Best snow conditions here in many years.
