Yamaha phazer xtx
Hi all, sorry for my english, it is not my first language
I have a problem with my new bought phazer xtx from 2014. It has 2500km on it.
It revs 8000rpm at 30-40kmh ~ 20mph.
Primary clutch seems fine, weights and rollers moves easily. Primary spring is fine, the shives moves smooth and easy on The axel.
Secundary clutch looks good, but the shives is easy to separate it seems.
My thought is that the twist spring angle isnt correct.it needs more of a twist.
What are your thoughts? What should i do and what to look for? Anybody with the same Problem?

Phazers run very light secondary spring pressure compared to the other Yamaha 4-strokes. Is your XTX gear ratio lower than normal? 8,000 rpm at 20 mph doesn't seem far off for a motor that spins 11,800 rpm peak power. That would be the equivalent of a Nytro running 6,000 rpm at 20 mph.

Hm, i just bought it so i dont know the gear ratio. Is it normal that it revvs high at low speed? To me it feels wierd. Ive tried to stiff up the spring pressure to se if it works better. I would like to have the rpm on like 4000-5000rpm at 20mph.

A lot of clutching is based on what your rpm’s flash to at wide open. I would find out if you are in the right range first before changing a lot based on a certain speed

does the helix on the secondary clutch move in and out freely with the spring out? i have seen that style secondary stick/seize on the helix when they sit for extended periods.
i had a 09 rtx i made into an xtx with the xtx gearing to go with the 144" track legnth and it would hit over 100kph (65 mph) when trail riding easily. id did run it with the mtx gearing (deeper gearing) for a bit and it would still hit that speed with no issues.

Your RPM vs speed sounds normal to me for a Phazer, they are a high revving engine, you will never get 20 mph at 4000-5000 rpm without major clutching overhaul.

Hi,
Thanks for your replys.
It seems to be normal with high rpm as u guys say. I have tried to adjust the secundary spring twist angle and also tried diffrent settings on The secundary clutch, with same results, just a small change in rpm 50-100rpm.
I wonder if a diffrent gear ratio would make it rev less at say 20-30mph.
Thanks guys for all your replys

Even if you change the gears, it will still rev the same. This is normal for this engine. If you check the RPM of the clutch with a laser tach, you will see it's much lower.
