My son's got a friend who owns an '07 Phazer that was shut off while in reverse at the end of last season. Now he finds that the unit will not turn over (fresh charge on battery) when he turns the key (not even a click). He has tried to push the forward button but this apparently does not do the trick. Does anyone know the trick here to start this sled? If he unhooks the servo or the neutral safety switches, will this get the ignition back in sync and will the sled finally turn over?

Does the instrument pod light up? There is an issue with the relays on the nytros - won't turn over - havent heard of it on the phazers though but worth a check (possible corrosion/ bad connection).

If memory seves me correctly, if you shut the phazers off while in reverse, when you attempt to restart it will default to the forward position (have had to do this a few times with the mtn lites to get them out of reverse).

In order for it to default back in to forword the sled must be able to do so. Go the the secondary and rotate it back untell free-play stops, then try to strat it. If that dont work rotate it forword, then start. If that dont work there are other ways, but rotating a secondary is a easy problem to fix.

If that is the case it means the belt is to tight.

The owner has passed the following info along to my son this weekend:

There are lights on the ip pod. The starter turns over if you jump it, but will not turn over with the key. The fwd button is lit. The track was turned forward.

Any more thoughts on which direction he should go?

starter solenoid?

so its fine when the sled gets jumped, everything is working right?

No. Motor still will not turn over or start. The starter will turn if you jump leads across the starter posts. But the starter will not turn the motor over with the key. Sorry for the confusion.

check the yellow connector in front of the oil tank. about 1'' long. may need to undo some tape. there is a pic somewheres on here of it.

see if this is melted?

Sounds like the starter went out, I recall reading about how this was a problem on the '07, seems like their is a bolt in their that comes loose due to lack of loctite or something like that?
