I need some help from the exports. I bought a 2007 Phazer at the beginning of the season last year and it rode great. took if for a couple rides this year, still no problem. 2 days ago it started fine, warmed up in the trailer, put it in reverse and it stalled, restarted, backed off the trailer, stalled again. It turned over for a while and wouldn't start. Now it wont even turn over, when you hold the key in the start position the check engine light blinks. I know battery is charged, I jumped the starter solenoid and it cranks over fine. Put it in the diag mode and under 61, I got the codes 11, 30,43, 88. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance

Wow, a lot of codes there.

11 = Cyl identification sensor - no signal to the sensor/shorted
30 = Oil Pressure Dropped - engine stopped due to too low of oil pressure (could be a short in wiring)
43 = Fuel System Voltage - no signal/shorted
88 = Forward/reverse Position Switches - no signal/shorted

Seems like you have some electrical gremlins. What does the main wiring harness look like near the battery?

The harness looks like it would from the factory, even has the factory zip ties. There is no sign of any mice chew marks or anything. Could me jumping the ignition solenoid cause a lot of these codes? When the turning the key to the start position didn't engage the starter, that's what I did. I feel the not firing is a fuel issue. I sprayed either in the intake, jumped the ignition solenoid, and it started for a second and shut down.

I typed a reply but noticing a day later its not here. I must not have hit submit.

The engine wont start because the ecu thinks there is a bunch of problems, including no oil. I cant speak to the other sensors, but I know that the forward/reverse sensors are ground based.

Maybe check the conditon of your ground connections both on the battery and machine?

Edit: I just noticed you have an 07. Has the grounding block update been done on it?

Its the yellow grounding block, the stock setup over heats and melts the tiny ground coming off from it. Here is the thread I started because mine failed the same way.. Do finds on yellow grounding block.. There was a bulletin for a preventive fix. Mine melted so I had to do some make shift fix.. The Block is up near the oil tank on right side of sled. Its taped up.

Here is more info on the bulletin.

I think there is 12 or 14 wires in this block, they all are coming in to be grounded and only one small wire going out to ground, that's the one that melted on my sled. You need to rewire a couple of them directly to battery to prevent this over heating again. Its super easy and the whole sled comes back to life.

So I bit the bullet and brought the sled to Valley Motorsports on North Hampton MA (about an hour drive)because they came highly recommended by my local dealer who does not service Yamaha sleds. Over the phone told me it was a $109 diag fee. next day a get a call saying bad Fuel pump and starter solenoid, and a quote for $1271. Immediate no!! I picked up the sled, and they try to charge me 218 plus shop supplies ( I didn't know you needed 10 worth of shop supplies to give me a quote). When I asked him what about what you quoted me when I dropped it off? He said, and quote, "well we had to put it back together." I NEARLY LOST MY MIND!!! Got home, ordered a Fuel pump from Ebay $29.99, and a solenoid $9. Installed it myself and wouldn't you know it... Same F...ing problem. I dig a little more and sure enough, a melted yellow Plug (thank you tcskibike, I would have never even looked or thought of that). Moral of the story, you guys are the best, and the dealer (at least Valley Motor Sports in North Hampton MA) will try to tighten the screws on you for as much money as they can. Thank you everyone for all your help, and I'll keep you posted on the conversation I'll be having with the owner of Valley Motorsports. If anyone has the Service bulletin for this problem it would really help may case and I thank you in advance.

You are very welcome Cptron, the wire that melted in my yellow block was the only one of the many that went to ground. It was number 1 in the diagram in service bulletin. All the rest are coming from devices some from the computer under and behind battery and the others from the top fuel pump handwarmers etc. I ended up ripping apart the whole loom to trace where all the wires went, I didnt need to just fix the one that is melted.

When it happened to me I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, luckily I had cell service and was able to google my way out of it. I simply tapped the yellow block and it started and stayed running until I got home!

Exact same thing just happened to me same sled, did install this kit from Yami?

No, I cleaned up the melted wire off the grounding block which happened to be the only wire going to ground off the block the rest were coming from devices looking to be grounded. I reattached this ground it with a new connector and then pulled the 5,6 wires and wired them directly to the battery like the service bulletin described.. The kit was out of stock no matter where I looked.

its not that its out of stock, its that the kit is not a part sold to the public. Quote from when I tried to order this kit about a year ago
