so the plug is: cr 10 ek ?
Yep, NGK CR10EK
I found them last year at an Advance Auto for just under $5.00 a plug US.

MW are you running them?
Not in the Attak, but I did in my Warriror. I then switched over to the NGK Iridiums for easier starting.

How do you like them?

The engine Idled smoother and started quicker with the Iridiums. Freddies dyno showed the HP was lower with the Iridiums but my Warrior was a pooch anyways so a HP or two extra didn't matter..............

Thanks MW :D

My Apex GT fouled a plug at 300 miles or so. I ended up using RX-1 plugs and locktited the caps on to make it work. The dealer in Eagle River had no plugs for the Apex for some reason????

ok, here is what is happening here..on the dyno you could see more HP with a plug change. But it's not because of the DUAL ground strap. It's from the heat range being colder.

******BUT...the downfall to this is....*******

The CR10EK is pulling more heat out of the chamber allowing the fuel to burn longer(this is what a colder plug does). While this is happening the heat is going into the PLUG. The 2 ground straps can't dissipate the heat as quickly as the ceramic in the spark plug can.
Now what happens is you get 2 HOT ground straps after prolonged hard running, and they could fall off.
They may go out the exhaust, they may ding a valve, they may????

3 simple rules.....

more octane=one jet size=colder plug

This being said, they all do a similar thing.
More octane slows the burn down, can prevent leaness at lower rpms.
One larger jet size add more fuel, sorta covering up the slow burn a higher octane can do.
Colder plug doesn't burn fuel as fast, same as more octane..kinda like adding more fuel via a larger jet.

Do you see the similarities?? All have the same affect, with slightly different characteristics.

To add to this..wait and see SUPERTUNER add more fuel to the APEX on top and gain HP via a boondocker fuel thingy.

Mike Knapp and John Wheelock are running these plugs with no problems. So am I. Works fine.

Good for you guys! :drink:

how about this..instead of saying what you have, how about reading my post and learning why it happens. It is fact, not fiction. There is a reason you gain HP.....re-read the post. Perhaps Knapp and gang aren't aware of why they gain the HP, the true reasons for gaining the HP.

87 what I was refering to was that we were not having problems and the fact you cant jet down on a efi.. I am not disputing your findings. ;)!

it's not jetting down, it's simulating a richer condition...re-read the post.

You see, this is my take as to how this EK plug started to be used.....

Once upon a time, someone(no body on here!) wanted a colder plug than a CR9EB. But NGK doesn't make a CR10EB. They make a CR10EK. So this was tried, hey it makes more power...but unknown to whoever this person was, the power is NOT from the double tip.

I guess I am saying, use at your own risk. Get a boondocker and add fuel properly. The stock plugs are fine.

I have a question.

When I installed these plugs on my 05 RX1-ER, I installed them with the cap not installed. What I mean to say is you can see the thread on the top of the plug.

What bad things can happen with this setup?
I still have my original plugs. Should I unscrew the caps from them and install on my new plugs?

Chris

The RX-1 and Vector spark plugs don't use the threaded cap, they only clamp onto the threaded portion on top of the plug.
