Heres one of my summer projects. Just got one side polished today along with every nut and bolt in the skid. I am also painting all arms and misc. hardware in Yamaha Blue. The outside wheels are already done. I also sanded an polished all aluminum cross shafts. Ill post more once the whole skid is done...BBY

Heres some pics of polised vs non polished, what a difference

Why you be copying me, LOL

Copying you grapeape??? How about copying both of us. Sheesh. Once I get the chrome exhaust to BBY, noone will be able to tell our sleds a part. Next thing ya know BBY is gonna put ghost flames on his hood. LOL. I am however happy that BBY is doing this to his sled. It shows that I am not the only polishing and chroming freak on this here forum.----Cubby

Hey boys, I have news for you. Ive been polishing my sleds for years. I think Im rubbing off. I see more and more guys with the same sickness. If you remember I had Billet wheels/Yamaha Blue and polished rails last year. Heres a pic from last years Novi show. Now quit copying me...BBY

Hey Matt, here's a few more pictures of your sled that I had before the season started last fall where she's all polished up! Some showing the Cat skid before it went in and with the billet wheels before they broke!! Your sleds have been polished for as long as I've known ya!!

Yea I know, I know, I copied you BBY, I was just messin with ya. But isn't copying someone or something the highest form of flattery??? Thats why I went with billet wheels, because I saw how cool your sled looked with them and I just had to have them. And I of course took your advice and made sure to get the offset axle so I dont crush my wheels like you did. By the way, BBY, any chance you will go back to the billet wheels????----Cubby

Cubby, Id love to go back to them, they just look so cool, but until I see someone get a whole season out of them, im not going to. I think youll have better luck than I did seeing as you got the rubber on the outside and your running the offset axle kit...BBY

Man you guys are sick!!! :D Gee wonder how much sick time from work that takes??? I'm just jealous, if I have time I may do the same, too busy racing right now.

What are you guys using to polish? I know it has been posted before but I gotta start doing that or I'll be embaressed to ride the Wisc/UP trails this year!!

Its more than just polish. All factory aluminum will polish up decent but wont ever be mirror like unless you sand it first. I use 600, then 2000, then 4000 grit wet sand paper first then buff with wheel (if possible) with Mothers, then lastly use Wizards Aluminum polish as the last step. It can be a very long process. I have at least 50 hours in my running boards alone :exc: . But hey, what the heck else you going to do in the off months?...BBY

Lets see there's always fishin! :D, workin on the sled. Then there's fishin and workin on the sled, did I say there's FISHIN. ;)! ;)! 8) Hey there's always girl watching and fishin. and workin on the sled. ;)!

yeah, what bountyhunter said. A little fishin and a little workin on the sled.

Has anyone used a claybar on the polished aluminum? I how much more that would pull out.

I love the look of highly polished parts, but it's hard to keep up atleast it takes some time all winter long to keep it up. If could find what paint oems use I would paint my running board black. Yamaha is the only one atleast the sled that are painted the paint is too thin and wears off.
