Agree.Just a thought! I was told today by a reputable source that the movable shiev on the Winder clutch has webbing removed compared to a viper clutch? Any one have one to compare side by side? If so any older Yamaha clutch would likely be stronger and a viable candidate would it not? Yamaha clutches have been holding big power longer than any other OEM clutches.

Yes sorta, but still must change out weights, can we still buy on babbitts old style apex primaries? But they may be more costly than the team and new ramps,i just don't know what to think.HA HA, some people are watching this thread for sure. I was looking at a new Team primary on Ebay from Country Cat and it sold while I was looking!!!
Still, under $500 for a new one is a reasonable price compared to other high end clutches if it works........

I'd guess thats the problem here. Worn rollers and those shorter than most, Heavy Hitters rolled right past the worn out rollers and bang, ripped them right out of the clutch as it was fully shifted out. Every one I've seen broke has had these HH weights in them.
The clutch did not completely explode though, which is good. I don't see this as a Yamaha clutch problem, other than the worn out bushings. The HH arms are just shorter than they probably should be. Fine with good rollers, but worn out bushings and they roll right off the roller. Set them side by side with most any other brand weight and you'll see how much shorter they are.
Mike, your facts on the HH weights being shorter than the stock sidewinder weight are false. The HH weights do not go past the roller, even with the bushing completely out(Pictures and a video loading to Youtube as I type this)
Even with the roller (without a bushing) installed in the Sidewinder clutch with our HH weight, the weight no matter how much pull.... does not go past the roller.
The problem is the Sidewinder clutch being too thin on the moveable sheave....(only .098"), the gusseting has been removed and the extreme power flashes are only making it worse on this Sidewinder clutch which has been reported to Yamaha Corporate directly by me.
We, at Thunder Products know of numerous Sidewinder clutches in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Canada and the US that the clutches are coming apart using everybody's weights, stock weights...... not just our weights.
In the beginning of the new Sidewinder clutch, there have been cracking issues that have been cracking and proven from dye penetrant testing. I will post those pictures also.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CLUTCH FOR CRACKS!!!!!

Looks like a real opportunity for someone to design, manufacture, and supply a heavy duty replacement sheave for these SW primaries.

Many are switching back to the previous style primary (Viper, Nytro, Apex...etc.) with great results and zero issues

Are those Penetrant Test photos of the OPs clutch after this episode? Or just some random clutch that you discovered weakened?

I know the SW clutch OD is ~0,93. Do you know what the "old" clutche is capable of ?Many are switching back to the previous style primary (Viper, Nytro, Apex...etc.) with great results and zero issues
Thanks
