Was just reinstalling the primary clutch on my Son's sled, the service manual shows the torque spec as follows. Step 1 is 112 foot pounds and step 2 is 43 foot pounds. No further directions. now I am guessing they are wanting you to torque to 112 and then loosen and retorque to 43 foot pounds. Correct???

the 112lbs is a missprint it should be 80-85. your guess for the proceedure is correct. i personally torque it to 80 and leave it, never had any problems.

^^^ correct

Thanx, I guess I was lucky the bolt did not snap when I hit 112 foot pounds. Then when retorqued 43 seemed light. My Viper service manual showed 87/43, sould have went wth that. Of course I did not look far enough ahead in the service manual to see I was suposed to loosen and retighten. Thanks again.

As long as we are on the subject, I have both my primary and secondary off right now rebuilding them - what are the specs for;

torque on weight bolts
torque on spider cover bolts
torque on helix nuts
torque on secondary bolt

do you guys use an loctite on anything? - I had all of this info somewhere and can't find it!! :dunno:
