Just curious...how has your season been in terms of snow? We have had lots of snow in eastern Canada, but even more wind so all the snow is blown to shi*t and was not very ridable until just recently when it finally warmed up. When I saw your pic's I thought you were dealing with ice crust, but it looks more like wind pack than ice.

OTM

Where i live at the "east coast" in north of Sweden it has been a strange season we had a record dump of approx 23 inches in 2 to 3 days and that was awesome with the best riding in my life just around the corner, but it lasted for a week and then we have had melting degrees daytime every day since.
In the "mountains" where we had our trip (west towards the Norweigan border) there has been some melting degrees before our trip but not really ice crust as you say, its typical for our "mountains" to blow away the snow so the nice snow is in valleys and such but it was a hard surface even there.

We are expecting a baby in mid April so this probably was my last ride of this season.

First off, AWESOME BUILD!!! Ithe all came together very nicley. I am very curious as to what you think of the shocks. And along the way you got a ton of stuff for free. What do you think you have invested in the build total?

Thanks !

"A ton of stuff free" is far from true, i probably have as much time wrenching as i have searching, mailing and calling around for good deals on parts and then some selling and trading on top of that.
The ASA Shocks works very good but i will save my final Review until i get to ride some more on some different shocks. next i will try ASA shocks for the rear suspension.
When it comes to how much money i have invested i can tell you that its less than what an used Viper MTX is going for over here.

im very happy with my sled as is, but i will make some mods to it to make it even better.
I have been thinking and i cant think of any sled that i would trade it for even if i was offerered brand new one in an even trade.... or maybe if i got a turbo Axys RMK:s with some extra Engines and unlimited belts
;)

I finally found a gas tank and seat from a newer Lynx Boondocker (2014), it has a really nice seat and a Place for the battery in the back of the gas tank, this was the seat and tank a wanted from the start but i could not find one until now.

I also got hold of a drive shaft with brake and brake disk for a future Project.

I have been making some research and it seems that i am able to use the stock in tank fuel pump for my Engine so im going to do that.

Started on the steering mod, the bar will be about 5 inches closer to me.

The lever i removed from the pitman arm will be welded back but in a higher position so the steering rod will clear the plenum.

I'm looking forward to your future project with the brake disc.

Me too :)
This build never was intended to be super light but i have gotten some ideas by building this one and watching your build.
But i really want to have a boosted Apex engine in my next sled, the sound alone is making up for the weight penalty :p
but the next sled will be a long time project, im not even done with this one yet.

Since i have been riding with ASA shocks from the sled was finished i find it hard to review them, but now i have a pair of Fox to compare with.
It will be really interesting.

Shims are the key for every shock. If you know what to do, it is really hard to tell what shock is in sled. Piston and shim stack combo don't know if they are in kyb or fox etc... [emoji6]

Anyway, those are good shocks, should work ok from the box. I still have mtx original 40mm kyb front shocks, working good after couple(8 or 9) shim setups.[emoji16]

But thats the thing with the ASA shocks, there is no shims :)
