Project Mid Mount Vector

Update

Worked on the sled this weekend, we had quite a blizzard and now it is wicked cold out. I am so close to being ready to start the sled. I need to finish the cold air intake. I am hoping to tack this at work tommorrow and test fit it and then finish welding it. Then I need to do a heat shield for the turbo for between the fuel tank and coolant lines. Then bolt the tank down and seat down. And then I should be ready to start it. I will have a few things to finish after i run it a little but these are purely cosmetic. Them being closing in the area around the turbo to have it look stock and have some venting in that area so the turbo heat can escape. Also some other venting on the sled.

I am glad to be so so close I have been pulling my hair out not having this done, Just was starting to get sick of working on it.

run run

I started the sled tonight. It seems to idle well and sounds good. It seems as though the vaccum is lower, but I think i read some place that the cam timing really lowers the vaccum. I cannot ride it at all because i don't have a brake line for it yet. I ordered one though so it should be here tommorrow. I have a few things to finish up on it but those are just details. I am kinda worried about getting my clutching right as well. I need to find someone with a good selection of team springs to try.

Looks great man! The outside it looks non modded and I like that. What a blast to drive I bet. Curious how it will feel with the heavier nose but man that will make some crazy responsive power. Love it I want it!

Awsome work - your dream is almost finnished:))))) thumbs up!!!

I must have gotten a mile on it last night. Haha Either way I rode it up and down the block probally 6 times. It feels like it runs good. It is really hard to tell though without being able to get on it in deep snow. I don't have a headlight on it right now so I didnt dare go any farther in the dark.

My bov doesn't seem to be working though. I have it on how dave at powderlites reccomends but it is not reacting as fast as i want. I will probally be putting it in the other way.

TT, i am very excited to be getting it done. Working on it off and on since june makes for a long project. I had many frustrations and many times that I was ready to scrap the entire project. I really think this will handle much better than the vector chassis. I am not sure that it will be a ton lighter but It should be in the area of what a nytro weighs I would think.

Sent you a pm:)

I know the feeling about ready to crap the sled-LOL. Heck I still mod my Rapex and it is a 2003 model:)

Hahahaha and you're telling me.... that I do exactly the same.... with my 03 TurbosaurusRX

yamadoo

I got to ride the yamadoo a little on sat after i got the turbo heat shield done. It was cold and i didn't have the proper gear on so I didn't mess with it much probally put only a couple miles on it but it seems to handle better than the vector last year. I need to get it tuned as right now it is really fat. Also burned my leg on the downpipe because I don't have it wrapped yet. Will be surely doing that tonight and getting that area enclosed and the seat back on it.

BOV

HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS in my biggest santa clause voice.

I got the yamadoo running how i want it. I am still not happy with the operation of my BOV. I am very close to just ordering a synapse or tial. It needs to work perfect to get the perfect driveability that I want. I do have a turbosmart veeport that I can try but i don't wanna have a ton of different flanges on the charge tube. I ran the vee port last year and it didn't impress me.

If anyone has a synapse, or tial that they are willing to sell at a decent price please pm me.

yamadone

Finally I will be taking the yamadoo for a longer ride today. . . probally will put 30+ miles on it today. I have been riding it just close around here and I feel good about it. It had a few hiccups at first. I ended up going with a valve between the pitot and the carbs. I was going to use a flow control before and it didn't seem to be working. I also was having a problem with the fuel running out after short distances at wide open just after I would let off it would sputter and die. I turned the fuel pressure up and this should take care of that. Also the bosch BOV i was using I am not sure was sealing. I think it was leaking boost. Either way I had a cheapo turbo xs valve that I install and am happy with it for now. I may install a turbo smart vee port that i have next week.

Update

I rode the sled on sunday. I had some issues with the oil over flowing. Either Way I think i have that fixed now and I also remade the steering post so I can run the stock headlight.

Also Just had an electrical engineer here at work build me a 4 volt reg for my go pro helmet cam. So I can use a rca jack(like a heated shield one) and run my helmet cam of sled power. Should really rock and help me get alot of riding video. I am very excited about this! Since my batterys only last about 15 minutes last year in the cold even with lithiums.
