any tips or tricks to replacing radiator only? I'm I correct in assuming if I get the hood off I will have easy access? Do I need to drain the coolant first?

Take to hood off and u can easy change the rad. You may loose a a little coolant.

Once hood assy off rad is easy to remove, I recommend your loosen the lower hose clamp and let system drain into a container, once it stops draining then you good to remove radiator, save coolant and refill with it. I wrap the lower hose with tape so the coolant would run off of hose prior to being inside frame, collected it in a 2l beverage bottle and funnel
