My cousins had RX1s with super trap exhaust .You knew they were close when the wacked the throttle trying to pass you .In 05 i towed my cousins SRX from Quebec to FT Kent Maine in a snow storm with my 05 600 SDI Gade .He put a rod out the motor and the rest of the guys on Yamahas wouldn't tow their own brother .That's when I quit doos and bought 2 rx1's. My 01 mach z couldn't hang with my blue rx with button track, on top end, nor could the other 3 mach z's I rode with. All stock. I put a 1.25 ripsaw 1 on the black one which cut down the top end. But what an engine...and I loved my doo triples, but these 4 strokes were way cooler! Heavier too! lol

No 2sk sounds better than a V Max 4 With Pipes
SRX Big Bore with a Bender can! Close anyway
No RX1 keeping up with that!
Turn up the volume and listen to the throttle response, at the end she almost blows a corner!

Yup agreed best sound ive ever heard was a bender can on an srx. Sounded wild! That clip doesn't do it justice.

We can scrutinize these 4-strokes all day, but at least there is a conversation. Let's talk about the fact that POLARIS doesn't even have a 4-stroke to bitch about!
They are missing out on a huge & GROWING segment in the snowmobile world.

Yep, and when you started one with that can, you could hear the power valves cycle once.

I agree.....I would think POO will have to jump into the 4s world sooner or later. And that will be a win for all us 4s lovers to have more choice. Never owned a POO or wanted one, but i would bet they could build a nice(light) 4s sled.We can scrutinize these 4-strokes all day, but at least there is a conversation. The doo 4s do alot really well....but in the end the iTC is not liked by most, and only accepted by the current coolaid drinkers since they have got used to it. But it has never been loved by anyone. Its not something can be fixed like our Winder issues, it is what it is....A poor intake design that is masked by iTC that just feels disconnected.
I for one would LOVE another 4s option! The Viper would be more fun to own corner to corner then this poor feeling iTC DOO design, even with less power, as the Viper has instant throttle response. Other then that, there is no other 4s option. So for me I opted to run a 2s for next season. At least the Doo 2s has a great performance feel to the throttle, and will be a fun corner to corner bump sled.
It seems since the Apex is gone now, we just have lost 4s performance options. Winder is king but also pricey. I wish DOO would fix that intake design, and I wish YAM would up the Viper HP to 150 range and hope POO brings out a 150hp-180hp 4s to compete.

Polaris is NOT interested in 4s engines for their snowmobiles. Talk to any factory rep and they will tell you 2s or nothing. Sure Polaris could dabble in 4s but they say their marketing analysis is no ROI for 4s snowmobiles too small of an overall market. 4s snowmobiles would be an up hill market for Polaris since soooo far behind the other OEMs. I don’t see Polaris adding 4s engines to snowmobiles in the foreseeable future. Not in their DNA for now.

DWB your right it doesn’t do it justice because I’m a dumbass! That was the stock muffler on the sled in the vid. We had changed it back two years ago for a long trip we took, and I had not changed it back when the video was taken. I was severely chastised for the mistake! Sorry bout that. I do love the bender can sound so much I put one on my F3 ski-doo, although it’s slightly modifiedYup agreed best sound ive ever heard was a bender can on an srx. Sounded wild! Not scrutinizing 4 strokes at all, love them! Power and reliability ore second to none!
It’s just the types of 4S motors these other manufacturers are hanging turbos on, not a performance motor to begin with, that’s the problem. Like I said before if they turbocharged a ninja 900 motor I would probably jump right on over to a ski-doo in a heartbeat. Sorry Yamaha

Also I good reason to stick with a Winder is they have been out a couple years.
These motors are seriously under their rpm limits. I have no doubt that hanging a bigger turbo and larger camshaft with springs so it can spin 10k rpm will allow close to 400hp on pump gas.

I always thought the clutch spinning past 9k rpm was the issue of revving higher? Thats why the apex had the reduction gear

Yea everything has its rpm limits. I’ve heard belt efficiently is reduced greatly at at those really high speeds, but many have run belts up around 10k without problems.I always thought the clutch spinning past 9k rpm was the issue of revving higher? Thats why the apex had the reduction gear
That’s fine put a gear reduction on it, they work well.
It’s already engineered!
so I’ll be ordering the new Sidewinder with the apex motor turbocharged!
We need a new emoji with a spinning turbo wheel!
This beer drinking emoji has liver problems
