If you had a lever to compress the shock would make a difference ;-)

Please enlighten? Where did you get your sag measurements from? And where did you measure from?

I take all measurements from the bottom of the rear bumper. That measurement shows exactly the same as when measurements are taken from where the rear arm meets the transfer blocks. 2" sag at the rear bumper equals 2" movement on the transfer arm

Is this a factory Cat or Yamaha setup spec? Where did you come by this number?

To my knowledge yamaha has no setup specs at all, and every person I've talked to that has owned previous year procross sleds all say that the snopro sleds..even tho they are suppose to be stiffer are still setup too stiff. I know of a few guys that just buy the lxr cat shocks and put in their snopro cats because the stock snopro shocks r just too stiff. Seems as tho the se viper shocks are coming the same way. I'm not gonna judge the ride of my sled based on what cat or yammi say it should be cuz quite frankly it's obviously wrong or we wouldn't have to be sending shocks out to get valved properly. I'm sending shocks to someone with a great reputation and who I have talked with all winter long about the ride of my sled so he knows what I'm looking for. He has also informed me numerous different times throughout the winter of getting viper shocks in to be revalved and he says they are all the same, way too stiff

Model for model the ac and viper shocks are valved exactly the same. A 2013 lxr with 3000 mi on it has 3 inches of sag. I had my suspension and the lxr side by side out of sleds and there is geometry changes in both arms. I think it may take some valving and some moving of the arms to get a plush ride that doesn't bottom and transfers. To me the changes they made to geometry look to put more direct action to the shock. So in other words anything you do to the shock you will feel more than with old geometry.

Any idea what the point of the geometry changes are? I guess with the short track sleds it'll be easier because you have a cat skid to compare to. No comparisons can be made with the 137" skid since it's first year. I must say that my buddies xf7000 snopro even tho it's still stiff has a plush initial ride and transfers weight much better than my viper ever did for some reason. Always thought it was shock valving which I'm still thinking it must be but if cat and yammi shocks are valved the same it's hard to tell. But at the same time my sled suspension has been out of wack since day 1 so maybe the shocks that got put in mine were duds lol

Yea 137 is whole new game. I plan to measure all the mounting point changes. When sitting on floor next to each other the most obvious is the upper rear arm mount is about 3 inches higher.

Have you had chance to compare skids cannon?

No. Buddy with ac has it put away already.

Rear shock reinstalled. Suspension compresses 2 inches when I sit on it. With me off it has 1 inch sag at the rear bumper. Much smoother softer compression and smoother, faster rebound. This is just sitting on it on the garage floor but there is much more movement in the suspension now than their ever was

I know he had the front skid shock done previously because he blew it out earlier in the season. At that time he stated that the rear suspension was better. If memory serves me, I believe that the person who corrected the front skid shock told him recalibration of the rear skid shock would be necessary to get the optimum performance from his rear suspension. I just don't remember who did the recalibration or what he told him to expect from rear skid shock recalibration. Check out post # 1 here through this post for a more complete view of the problem and 144's actions to correct his stiff rear suspension.
I also think there is another post where he and others have discussed this issue, I'll see if I can find it and revise this post with the results.
OK please also check out the four posts in the "How to set Sag..." Discussion that follows this discussion.
