Knocking? What? Look I know you like your MIB but you do stretch it a bit. In fact the way you stretch it and promote it and are a seller of the product even though you say you cant sell it on here kinda makes me chuckle. Just become an advertiser already! LOL!
Still can't buy the stuff in Canada!
I dont stretch it, when you spray starting fluid in a motor does it knock??? yes it does, starting fluid is alcohol, its awful for a gas motor, ethanol is alcohol, and seafoam has quite a bit of alcohol in it also..
I dont sell to the public, I sell to dealers, I'm a sales rep for a small engine parts distributor..Kohler, briggs & stratton, ect..so selling 100's of carb kits and 100ft rolls of fuel line a day makes me big money..Not a 4oz bottle of MIB that retails for like $8-9... I just hate seeing people get screwed on fake products..we are snowmobilers so Im trying to look out and help out you.. look at Startron, It's 100% pure kerosene that they sell 12oz for $10..you can buy a gallon for $3..look at their MSDS sheet..Its freaking kero..

Well I don't see why they are selling both.
1. Is just for ethanol
2. Is for enathonal and claims to do everything else imaginable, except sex.
I ordered a bottle of MIB (24OZ) $34.00 Delivered and will try same test as video myself with straight gas w/ethanol.
Will say Iam a little sceptic as they make a awful lot of promises on the side of a small expensive bottle, seems a little snakey sounding or like me on 4 drinks.
1. Treats ethanol
2. Lubes seals, orings
3. Boost octane
4. Cleans varnish
5. Stabilizes fuel
Wow I sure ain't no rocket scientist but how can any liquid do such opposite things. I'll test and try it. Hope my sled ain't TOOOO FAST now.
lol, MIB has cleaners in it, its just not good to run cleaners through your fuel system constantly..The stuff works, the largest buyer of B3C products is the U.S. department of defence, the second it VP fuels..they blend it with their product and sell it..

OK Rigid one: here are pics of my test same as you did, but I only have the SHIELD will try again with MIB tomorrow, but as you can see in clear fuel pic the water in bottom of gar, in darker pic after shaking like you did you still see water in bottom after 2 minutes.lol, MIB has cleaners in it, its just not good to run cleaners through your fuel system constantly..The stuff works, the largest buyer of B3C products is the U.S. department of defence, the second it VP fuels..they blend it with their product and sell it..

Also I used .5oz shield which should treat 5 gals of fuel.
Don't understand why our test's have such different RESULTS.

My votes for run whatever you want during the season. Ethanol will not phase separate before you have a chance of burning it. Unless your saying your MPG is so good your tank last you more than two months. lol Don't be afraid about all the scare of it absorbing water in the air. Being an alcohol it can absorb and burn it too. If your engine is running good then just gas and go, no need to add additives. I know its hard and reading in forums you just want whats best. But in this case your burning money literally.
In the off season for storage keep it simple, put in non-ethanol gas. Allot of talk of "I have been adding this for x amount of years with no problems." How about I have been keeping it simple for x amount of years a no problems here either.

Dept of Defense aren't they the ones who paid $2,000.00 of our tax money on $8.00 toilet seats?lol, MIB has cleaners in it, its just not good to run cleaners through your fuel system constantly..The stuff works, the largest buyer of B3C products is the U.S. department of defence, the second it VP fuels..they blend it with their product and sell it..

Try it with MIB, you will have different results, ethanol shield does not blend the water and it doesnt say that it does, It coats the parts of your fuel system to "shield" them from ethanol hence the name..Its a totally different product thats why we had different results..

Well not attempting to be a #*$&@, but since MIB does the same as SHIELD and cleans also then I have NO idea why someone would buy SHIELD?Try it with MIB, you will have different results, ethanol shield does not blend the water and it doesnt say that it does, It coats the parts of your fuel system to "shield" them from ethanol hence the name..Its a totally different product thats why we had different results..
I will try MIB test later today when it shows up.

Starting fluid is mostly ether: https://web.chempliance.com/MSDS/OpenDoc.ashx?DocID=19400 & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starting_fluid
Ethanol actually has a relatively high octane rating. a properly tuned, boosted motor can usually get better performance on E85 than on 94 octane pump gas. Ethanol is used to raise the octane of gasoline in some cases.
The problems with blended fuel are:
- The ethanol absorbs water and separates when stored, sometimes even for short periods (this seems to depend on where and how it's stored: Sealed in a airtight container in a cold, dry environment is best).
- When the alcohol separates the gasoline that's left behind can have lower octane (because the ethanol was used to raise its octane)
- The water can cause corrosion.
- Older fuel systems might have problems with the ethanol damaging non-metallic parts.
- Alcohol requires a richer mixture (not a problem in a car that has an O2 sensor and can adjust by adding a bit more fuel when you fill up with E10 and cut back a bit when you fill up with pure gasoline but a carb or a fuel injection system without an O2 sensor is going to run a bit lean on a blended fuel if it was tuned on straight gasoline.
- Alcohol has slightly less energy content than gasoline so you loose a bit of fuel mileage running a blended fuel vs. pure gasoline.

Yep. True story. ^^^ My ecoboost motor in my truck seems to perform better and has better economy with blended fuel.

How is ether made??? By mixing acid with alcohol then adding heat to form ether. You might want to educate yourself rather than copy and paste.. Ether falls in the "alky" group bud... You can't make ether without alcohol..

Copy & paste? I'm guessing you're referring to the two links I used as references? Though Wikipedia is, admittedly, a weak reference.
Ether and alcohol are similar but then so are alcohol and vinegar yet vinegar, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't burn terribly well in a motor (or anything for that matter) whereas alcohol and ether are both quite flammable. A small difference in the make up of a molecule can have a large difference in its behaviour (look at the differences between ethanol and methanol in a motor).
I'm not sure the point you are trying to argue but thank you for the spontaneous chemistry lesson.

His argument is MIB is the best additive out there! To bad the thread question was can I burn 97 in my RX instead of 87. Answer is yes!
All the other is an advertisement with some crazy arguments, some viable, some that are showmanship with little sense behind them. I'd say start another thread about gas additives but there is a few already!
