Don't know for sure. Maybe chat with Dave at Hurricane since he was the one who said they've seen it multiple times.
I think they can leak even when new. Especially for those of us who have more boost than stock. From what I saw, there really isn't that much compression on the boot with the stock spacers at .250" length. Maybe Yamamarc has thoughts?

Dave is the guy to talk to about this since he has all the data and trends collected on the issue and resolution mod for a over active knock light that some have experienced!!

Would this job be much easier if you made new steel bushings or some magnetic stainless?

IMO, no. Shortening the bushings is easy. It's getting them out that makes you cuss.

I'm tackling this right now as well as installing the upgraded wastegate/controller. Yup pain in the rear end for sure.

If I recall correctly, you slide the brown connector back and then squeeze the gray parts as much as you can and it will release the line.

Yes, slide lock out of way, allowing you to push in on grey pad. It helps to simultaneously push the fuel line in (like you're trying to push it on). That takes some pressure off locking mechanism.

So completed this job. Hardest part for me was removing the fuel line from the rail. For some reason it was a bugger to get off. Removing the throttle body is the way to go. Now to get the new wastegate installed and set up.

Everybody should being doing this mod of shortening the spacers on the clamps. I did mine last fall. Big difference if yours are leaking boost.

I would like to get this done. Any one know of a good place in ny. I asked a couple local dealers and they weren't interested. My best bet is probably ask hurrricane just was seeing if any one was closer. 4 hour ride. Thanks
