Anybody have any ideas if the LE models would have better resale than say the DX model or visa versa? On the one hand there will be far less LE models out there, but on the other hand will the price gap narrow to a near median price for a Viper?
It sure seems that the 2014 leftovers and used Vipers are not being discounted enough to be worth considering so that may be a good thing. Then again the high ask may be keeping them around.
I'm struggling with the decision. Resale should not be an issue as I'd prefer to keep for several years, but just in case.

Three years down the road you will probably get seven to eight hundred more than a dx model but you are paying roughly fifteen hundred more to start.

- 2014 viper rtx
2006 apex rtx
I was looking at a 2014 viper rtx.
List price was 12,649
Dealer had it listed for end of season sale at 11,200. Trying to get it off the floor for the summer.
Asked him what freight and set up was. He said something like 350 (i cant remember exact #)
I said will you take 11 even. Freight and setup included.
Dealer said ok
I was happy with that and looking around on here it appears to be a good price.
If you have not already done this, i would suggest talking to the dealer in person right now, before they put them all into storage,
Or you can wait thil next fall and hope they discount them more in the fall.
Get the model you want and
Forget about resale. Theres too many factors involved in resale, its not just about the model unless he model has some super rare options

Not sure which Viper listed at 12,649. The plain SR Viper (129") listed at 12,149 in black with the Champion Spark plugs style emblem.
My quotes:
2015 Viper RTX LE blue/white (the expensive one) $12,700 plus tax
2015 Viper LTX Se blue/white $11,850
2015 Viper LTX DX 11,400 plus tax
If the LTX DX were avail in blue white it would be more attractive to me but I'm thinking that the extra $1300 purchase price gets me a lot of $$$$ in shock and track upgrades.
Sure the track is shorter, but looking at how long these sleds have gotten, the 129 appears to have about the same "wheelbase" as the earlier 136" machines.

You clearly stated you felt the 2014 vipers were not being discounted enough
I clearly stated what my 2014 rtx list price was and what i paid
In your original post you never once mentioned the model year 2015
You then list all the quotes you got for 2015 models
i was trying to help a guy figure out pricing for a 2014 leftover.
Sorry i dont know what you want

I'm struggling with the decision. Resale should not be an issue as I'd prefer to keep for several years, but just in case.
I would think a LE version with the better shocks and the limited color scheme would bring more dollars.

That's kind of what I am thinking. I guess we are in virgin territory for resale, but when leftover 2104's are going for just a couple/few hundred less than pre season prices it looks like value might hold?
Cat has a lot of leftovers, but not many 7000's from what I've seen.
I also think that when I add the heated seat and the all black seat cover it should really clean up the look versus the blue and white panels on the OE cover.

You can add the heated seat with out changing the seat cover. I don't really think any small add ons will really affect you resale price...
Yeah, but I really think the all black cover will help the look. The color stripes are a bit too much and detract from the look in my opinion.
Cat sells a new cover with their heated units so there may be a material change? I know that the Cat that I demo'd was a really meshy type cover. I did not pay attention to the DX cover at the show.
I always mean to take pics and always skip it then always kick myself...

Lol, me too, so I had my wife take pictures...

sold my 14 ltx se $8800

In general, base models always hold their value the best. But I think that would be the last reason to buy a particular sled model...

Curious what was pre tax sale price, how many miles and what condition? Assuming it was raced hard by your avatar and sig?

bought direct from ymc, so not a fair comparison. 1900mi with lots of oe parts virtually unused (shocks, clutch, rear wheel).
Would it be fair to say that a race program sled typically sells cheaper due to the disclosure of use, and the fact that the purchase price was significantly lower than avg retail?
