I have an 08 mtx and find the reverse to be a joke in this thing. I see some people recommend rocking the machine. some pick up the rear of the sled. Is there a fix to this problem other than fighting with it. Is it pressure on the chain due to tight belt deflection or is there a spring issue
in the chain case. :o|

Mine was bad when I first got it too. I just put a shim in the secondary clutch, to loosen the belt just a little, and it fixed it. There is also a new different number belt that they suggest running to fix it too. I think it is the 8gk belt instead of the 8gs. or vice versa. not sure

Thanks I noticed after 50 miles it got better. Probably shimmed the secondary too much. ;)!

Baring any part failure I would guess it's mostly your belt deflection. I shimmed my Nytro too much last year, my belt would squeal if idling. What I noticed while riding about a thousand miles this way, was that I couldn't get it to go into reverse most of the time. I was afraid I was going to break the handle off. Since the Nytro has a manual lever for reverse you could actually feel the forces against the mechanism. I'm not at all suprised the Phaser servo drive doesn't work under these conditions.

all 2010 and newer phazers have the new reverse engine that always kicks it into reverse. i had the same problem on my 09, but i changet to the 2010 reverse engine and now it always works. my friend has an 08, and he got the dealer to tighten a spring in the reverse engine so that it works now.
