When did Yamaha go to an updated reverse servo? I saw where it was said that it was upgraded in 2010 but I am not sure. I see on the parts microfiche that it shows a new number. Anybody know?

I would imagine it was updated in 2010 because that's the first year it doesn't indicate that the older number has been replaced. This also means that you can't get the older one anymore so it makes no difference when you order a new one from Yamaha, you'll get the updated one.

I had bought one for the '09 a couple of years ago, could tell the difference unless it was all internal.

That is my question I guess, if I buy a 2010 servo on Ebay is it the upgraded and will it fit ok? And by upgraded does it work any better?

It might work better but it could just be a minor revision. Haven't heard of any real difference but it will fit.

I have a 2010 Phazer and still experience some issues with reverse not engaging. Happens infrequently, but when it does I just have to rock the sled a little and it engages. Sometimes I even have the same issue with engagement from reverse into forward (again, not very often but still a minor inconvenience). So I would say the upgraded servo is not trouble-free.

Check your chain adjustment. It could be on the tight side. I adjust it to just when I feel a bit of resistance and then back off 1/4 turn. Manual says finger tight but I have had good results with my method.

Thanks Mooseman. I will try that and see if it makes a difference.
