I just returned from a week of riding in Rangeley Maine. The trials were excellent and no one was out riding except us. I brought three sled with me with different setups. One Phazer with a ZX2, 1.5 Freeride, mountain skis with snowtrackers, one Nytro, stock except for the snowtrackers and a 1.75" Backcountry and one Nytro with an Expert X 136 with a 1.75" Backcountry, mountain skis with snotrackers. The conditions were very hard pan in the mornings, loose granular in the days and back to hard pan in the evenings. No real powder to speak out.
The Phazer setup was awesome. Very comfortable, plush. The ski setup was very predictable and consistent. I loved how this tracked and handled like a slot car. I am very happy with the results. This sled was always fun to ride, but when it came to bumps I would cringe, now I just glide over them.
Stock Nytro, unfortunately the first day out we hit a tree branch off trail. It took out the oil res and we lost all of the oil and had to be towed back to the trailer. I have nothing to report.
The other Nytro was ridden the entire week, I could not get off of it. All I can say is what an amazing machine. The 1.75" Backcountry worked flawlessly. The hookup was great and had a lot of bite. The only drawback was with pure ice, it was a little squirrely, no, it was a lot squirrely. As long as you knew that, no problems. The Expert X, what can I say! Grinning from ear to ear. I was looking for rough trails. Absolutely amazing, period. The ski setup was great as well. The darting is completely gone. That is one of the things I did not like about the Nytro. When you let up on the gas, the sled would move side to side so violently, at times you would feel you could get tossed off. The sled tracked very well and was predicable. I was extremely confidant in the sled and know what to expect. It carved the corners with ease. The steering was for the most part easy and light. The only thing I noticed that if you were into a corner with heavy snow, not powder, there was more steering effort required. I think that was because of the deep mountain keel and only because the snow was heavy. In the little powder we encountered, I did not notice it as much. Overall I am very happy with the setups and feel there is not much to improve upon. One other thing I did before the trip is to replace all of the front end bushings. Now the slop and looseness of the steering is gone. I want to thank the many people on this site who have consulted and explained to me the ins and outs of mods I have done. I think I am at a place where I have my sleds the best they can be. I do not have as much money as I used to because of you, but at least I have reliable, predicable, easy to use and a blast to ride machines, PRICELESS! If I can help any one of you decide on what to do next with your sleds, please ask away, I will be happy to share my experiences with you. Thanks, Dana

I am struggling with that question. I have 5 years on the X and less than 200 miles on the ZX2. It is not even broken in yet. I like the latest and greatest features of the ZX2, but I don't know how it could get any better than the X. I am trying to decide what to install in my other Nytro for next year. I am leaning towards the X, but that is only because of the history I have with it. Time will tell.

Aside from ride reports between the expertX and the ZX2 there are some differences it will ne nice to have a comparison on from you Boston RX1
Weight:
ZX2 121" is 52lbs
X 121" is 66lbs?
Maint:
ZX2 - virtually none, besides bogey wheels and hyfax, no grease
X - bushings when? arms, rails, etc?
Of course ride, I'm really curious how the X soaks up the stutter bumps on a high speed straight away like a railroad grade vs the Zx2 AND how they each absorb large G out hits.
Thanks for the info Boston RX1!

I will keep you updated as to what I find. Unfortunately, each skid is on two different sleds and we have run out of snow. It will be a long summer.
