I have a buddy that has a cabin near that webcam in lakego. Looks like enough ice to run the lake to me
Wish my sled wasnt in pieces right now.
I couldnt believe there was snow on the car this morning, guess its time to clean out the garage so we can get the wifes car in.
My 2 cents on the riding, I snow chase anytime of the year. Lived in wisconsin a several years ago and went to Davenport Iowa to chase 8" of snow early november.
Pretty sure the trail permits are available for the next season right after the season closes??

Stay Off Our Michigan Trails until the Ground is Frozen. I remember a early snow a few years back and many trails were destroyed when impatient riders tore them up :ORC
hey thanx for all the info. on this issue this was very helpful. i understand the whole ruining the trails thing, all i was wanting was to run some forest roads and logging roads. if i understand correctly, it has no time restrictions due to hunting in the month of october? correct? so if we were to go and unload on the side of m26 near twin lakes, lets say... and run around the forest we shouldn't piss in anyones wheeties? also, if i understand correctly, due to the trails not being open until dec. 15 the need for a trail permit shouldn't become an issue if you don't have one on the sled?
not that i won't buy my permit for the year, don't get me wrong, i love riding the powder, the up has to offer and will always buy my permit. to support the clubs and trail groomers. thanx again.

forgot one more thing, i did see sled tracks on the bill nichols trail cam on john dees website, so someone is thinking the same way some of us are, and trying to scratch that itch a little.

there was people riding on the news in michagan..
This has been talked about many times on Johndee's site. The michigan "marked snowmobile trails" are never closed in the UP. You can ride on them in june if you want to. Just stay away from private land around the towns and no one is going to get pissed off. If it wasnt 10 hours I would be up there today just to be riding in october Eric
well, all this info. and great responses and i didn't even get up there!! why does work have to disrupt my play time? had to run to wausau, wi late fri afternoon didn't get home until mid-night so couldn't get out of bed sat. , it looked to me like most of the good stuff was around twin lakes, anyone get out up there, let's see some pics.
