I used m6 button head bolt with nor lock washers and aluminum rivet nuts.
Have you ridden the sled after installing rivnuts?
Wondering if you noticed any vibration etc...

Dan,One more point I forgot to mention.....
When I was doing mine, I realized that in several of the spots out of 9 total rivets, there is access to the backside, so in those cases you can easily just use a SS screw and NUT on backside. Sure its not as easy to remove/install as you have to hold the nut from spinning but some of them are quite easy to get at.
Just something Im considering on the ones that are a pain in #*$&@ to use rivnuts.
Dan
Would using a plastic push pin (similar to what is used on nytro's and Alexis) suffice on the areas you can't get at from behind? And hold the rest with a nut and bolt.

I've ridden the sled this whole season with the rivet nuts, no plastic vibrations what so ever, changed the engine and chaincase oil several times, it's a must do if your looking for better accsess for maintenance.Have you ridden the sled after installing rivnuts?

They are 6mm and coated metal, this is what is use on all new GM trucks to install mud flaps. I get them from work and have the tool to install, they don’t rust that I have noticed for years now .Hi Hammer70

I used 6mm also on my viper and the large head Phillips shoulder bolts from yamaha. The ones they use on the plastic parts. Seems good for the last 3500km

You'll just have to drill the plastic to accept the shoulder!

Not off hand but it'll be the size of the rivet nut O.D.

Great thread. Didn't know it existed. I've been emailing rockerdan for help. Just curious what tool you guys have used for the rivnuts. A lot of the write ups on the net don't speak highly of many of the tools. Also seen a few videos on home made tool you can make with bolt nut couple washers and a coupling nut. No doubt I'm doing this but will be using stainless steel rivnuts for sure. Just gotta find a nice screw with big head
