I got to try my new ohlins shock out in my back field.
It does make a big difference has much better rebound control than the stocker.
It does not kick back now even with the anti bottom stoppers installed
what a piece of junk the stocker is it doesnt even return to extended position on its own
I have not yet had the front shock revalved or adjusted the clicker so it has potential now.
The sled now rides like it should and for less than trading for a new sled.

Ive put on 70 miles of ruff ditch riding and the ohlins in the rear works well. I haver the anti-bottoming stoppers in the front hole and no kick at all. I did try it with out the stoppers in but seemed to want to bottom harder than I wanted it to. With the clicker you can dial in what ever ride fits you best.

Did you revalve your center shock also or leave it stock?
I took mine out yesterday without the spring its pretty soft also.
going to do the revalve on it.

That's good information. Hope to hear more about it while I'm saving up!

How did you have the new Ohlin valved? Stock out of the box or ????

Shouldn't have to revalve the new Ohlins clicker. Pioneer suggests replacing the piston in the middle one.

Interesting that Bruce @ Pioneer didn't know what to do to my sled...said nothing about the center shock.
I know this >< much about gas shocks. If you have the clicker setup, does it mean that you never have to revalve it to get the ride (soft) you want?
How much $$ was the Ohlins?

Re: Pioneer
Please don't take this as an insult, but Bruce is widely respected as an expert at Yamaha suspension setup. You must have gotten him at a busy time or something... My experience with Bruce has been very satisfactory. Bruce seemed very humble from my interaction with him. He isn't one to try to "sell you a bag of goods". He really listens to the customer and sets them up with advice based on your communicated needs.
Anyhow, this might help you be reassured: Bruce's advice for the Vector rear suspension tuning is very consistent among the many requests I imagine that he must get... Back in early October, he suggested that I go with the Ohlin rear damper with stock valving and setup the center shock from a 6 to a 4 slot bypass piston. I bought the Ohlin and had him do the rebuild. He also set me up with his quick spring adjuster on the center shock. I'll tell you this, the center shock is stiffer with that 4 slot piston. I think the combo of the Ohlin and the rebuilt center is going to be awesome!
So, the point here is that Bruce's advice for the Vector Proactive has been very consistent among the different TY members which adds credibility to his claims. I hope you give him a second try...
And agin, this note wasn't meant to insult you... I'm just trying to share my positive "Bruce" story with you...

Two simple questions................... How much for the shock.. Does it make the ride smoother / plusher that stock? MM.

Bruce suggested the same thing to me concerning the center shock piston in his email. Said it would stiffen the ride up a little by increasing the rebound dampening, but still ride well. Bonus is a lot better handling and attitude on bumps. Center shock work was just under 70.00 and rear shock was 410.00.

The ohlins shock is about $410 from schrader lists at $430
Im not sure about plusher as you say. It makes it ride more like my mxz ski-doo that had 4 rebuildable hpg shocks.
It will bottom out less and if it hits the bottom stops it will not kick back as fast as the stock setup.
I agree with garserio ,Bruce was very helpfull with me when I called last spring and he gave me some setups that helped me with the stock shocks. He also told me about center shock then and option of heavier front swaybar.
I do live only 30 min from him so I beleive he knows how my sled needs to be setup.

Re: Pioneer
garserio - I didn't take your comments or anybody elses as an insult. Bruce seemed to want to spend all the time I needed on the phone. His comment was that he hasn't heard of anybody complain about the harsh/stiff ride that ONLY my Vector (and maybe Mad Max's) seems to have..only a "too soft" ride...which he has a fix for.
He said (as I stated on another forum on this board) he was going to test different shock/spring setups this year (he told me the same thing last year). I question if he's going to spend a lot of time on a complaint that only I and probably a few others have about the ride quality.
What I WAS disapointed about with Pioneer is that he didn't have any suggestions at all! Not even an "let's try revalving the center shock softer, and try a new rear shock with it vavled soft." If he would have had at least a starting point (which I expected he would based on how good everybody says he is) I likely would have shelled out the $$ and started the process. RIGHT NOW I'm faced with starting the year with the same crap ride as I had last year, which is nothing to look forwad too!
Guys...I'm not bashing...just frustrated!!!
Hey MadMax - you the same MM from the Ultimate board?
