Rumour or Fake News?

All I’m going to say is, I’ll believe it if we see it. Until then, I’ll keep riding my vipers. If I see or feel the need to upgrade to something better in the future, then maybe I will. But, it will only be an upgrade on a Yamacat or a an all new true Yamaha. All sleds break, all sleds need maintenance, some ride better than others, and most sleds (trail) nowadays are all fairly comparable to one another.

Ride what you like and be happy about it!

I'm pretty sure your talking like your lips don't match. You bring your Apex and I'll paddle your #*$&@ With my Viper dude, like I said before all your doing is running your mouth and don't have a clue what your talking about.
I'll take that challenge, while my Sidewinder sits in the trailer!

I agree. I owned both up until feb of this year when i lost the viper.
I have run the viper and apex head to head multiple times. The apex is bone stock with the exception of simmons skis, and 14000 miles on it.
It has never even had clutch parts like rollers or bushings changed, lol
The viper had evo stage 4 ecu flash, header, evo exhaust. Intake mods. Thunder products clutch kit.
The viper would take it off the line by a sled length every time for about 30-40 feet, then the apex would simply rape it for the remainder of the race.
Maybe i just got lucky in 06 and got a super fast apex, and unlucky in 14 and got the slowest viper known to man. Lol

I don't think vipers are in the same zip code as an Apex in terms of speed. I don't think that can be debated....slower chassis with way less power.

The PC chassis rides WAY better though...also not really debatable. Now, guys work on chain case improvements rather than rear skid and exhaust donuts though...

I'd honestly think Yamaha would just figure out a way to make the 850 Wolverine motor cool itself in the Grizzly before designing a new powerplant but who knows. One thing I will agree on is that whatever new power we see will be multi-platform (like the 4-cyl and the current 998). You would think they could have a pretty complete PC line with a 540 fan, 500 4-stroke, 1050, 998T and some chassis variations. I'm surprised the 160hp customer wouldn't just buy the 200hp SW.

I find it bizarre that yamaha axed "outdated" delta box chassis, then uses a nearly 10 year old Arctic Cat flimsy Pro Cross chassis, calls it a Yamaha. Even more bizarre is Yamaha guys accepting it. Keep buying them, and they will continue right down that path. A 2 cylinder turbo 4 stroke would be sweet, in a Yamaha built chassis. Doesnt have to be built in Japan, but surly cant be a true Yamaha built in TRF. You dont see Chevy cars being built in a Ford plant. That would just be considered stupid by most.
I do see Toyotas being built in a BMW factory!

Interesting. Does BMW let them use their whole car and just drop a Toyota engine and transmission in it? Call it a Toyota?

Like a Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix? (same chassis with a Yamaha motor)
Suzuki Sidekick/GMC Tracker
Ford Ranger/Mazda B2200
Subaru BRZ/Hyundai Genesis

MANY examples of car companies doing this. We used to sell Mercury 225hp 4-stroke outboards that came in a Yamaha crate. Exact motor painted black. In fact every small merc outboard is a Tohatsu painted black.

Exactly.
Ford Taurus - Yamaha engine.
John Deere - Yanmar engines.
Ford and GM co-designing and sharing the 10 speed transmission.
The list goes on and on.

I have a Ford truck with an International engine. That doesnt make my truck an International pickup. Still a Ford truck

Pretty much a parts bin bmw. z4, x5, some of this, some of that....and called a Toyota supra.

first of all this is a yamaha web site. they are all good and bad. ive had an apex, nytro and still have a viper. all bought new with real money from a Yamaha dealer! nytro handled like crap, Apex is A heavy tank, and viper has a bad ecu. Fix them, ride them and enjoy them. they all have issues. I have had multiple Skidoo sleds that have had less issues and better resale value. thats fact in my area. I buy Yamaha because I like my Dealer for service and I want him to be around for awhile, even if Yamaha is making it hard for A Yamaha dealer to make it unless they bring in another brand. As far as my viper goes,I have the evo stage 4 flash, header, can, airbox mod, and cluch kit and it pulls my buddys 800 polaris by a sled length up to 80 then he slowly reals me in. I change oil, hyfax, gear oil every year and have never had a problem with it.

Yes.. the Apex quality is closer to a Bentley, the pro cross quality is closer to a older Fiat.

It wasn't that many years ago that I would have agreed - but I was wrong.
