I know this topic has been beat to heck. But I just wanted to mention the great quality of the schmidt brothers wheel kits. I added the toward the rear of my skid, about 12" from the rear wheels. WOW what a difference in hyfax wear. Most of my wear was in that area and almost none up front. I get a more even wear throughout!!!! Best of all the kit mounts in existing holes in the rail!!!! NO drilling needed!!!! :jump:

I put them on last year. I have put 1700 miles on it since, and the sliders show no wear at all. It is a piece of mind knowing this in slim snow conditions.

Uofm. I'm thinking about getting their clutch kit. What can u tell me about it? Does it pull harder in the midrange?

KHEXX I have almost all the mod products that schmidt bros makes for the phazer, and everything works as claimed including the clutch kit on my phazer. I just got a nytro and had a nice conversation with Chris from schmidt bros about his clutch kits. It puts engagement at 2900 rpm which puts you right where you want to be to harness the low end torque of this beast. He has 3 stages of clutch kits, all will be set up custom to your style and weight give him a call and buy with confidence. I am a believer, and I'll be getting a few goodies soon.

Did you get the out board 59.99 or the 109.99 kit. Thanks.

The kit I bought was 109.99. It includes the standoffs and all hardware. It installs in an existing hole in the rail. You have to remove a allen head bolt and nut that holds the rail stiffener on. Call Chris and tell him what model you have and he will point you in the right direction....

I have the low engagement 2900 rpm kit and it is perfect. No more neck snapping jerks trying to go around a corner. It is smooth and pulls hard all the way thru. You will not be disappointed with anything they make.

Are you guys putting these wheel kits on the back rail? I got the kit and instructions that said to put the wheel kit on the front curve of the skid. I had them professionally installed there by a very good mechanic, when I brought my sled in for updates. At 30 miles the wheels were gone!!!! Anyone else have these wheels fall off?

Fall off??? My wheels are installed towards the rear of the skid on the outside, about 10-12" in front of the rear wheels. I put 200+ miles on my sled after they were installed and they are still there and in great shape. My hyfax wear was verey minimal even in some thin conditions (logging trail). I know the instructions stress that you Loctite the threads on the bolt assembly.

Can you guys post some pics of where you are installing them and how they look? I will be picking up a new 2010 xtx next week and may want to add these.

I have a different skid than you do...the pics won't help. The best thing to do is to call Chris at Schmidt Bros....
