I'm actually back from the USA as of March 3. I haven't got the time to post as much as I wanted but I will keep it coming until my 14 days in the USA and Canada are covered. One thing is for sure, I will be riding in Maine next season as well

Sunday morning. Odd-Steffen is about ready to ride sitting around waiting for us lazy guys getting our gear on.
Guys are getting ready to ride. Inside Bob's garage.
Start odo.
Sleds warmed up and we're ready to leave.
Me on Bob's '09 RS Venture GT, great trailsled I must admit
Riding the powerlines towards the east on our way to Lakeview.
The Lakeview.
Ourside Lakeview Resturant we met up with our riding partners for the Gaspe Roundtrip starting the very next day. From the left: John Danko, Gary Schneider, Odd-Steffen Knutsen, Bob Darrah, Thomas Jacobsen and Bob Davis, (two other guys riding Ski-Doo - I don't know who they are and they were not with us up to Gaspe).
We're gassing up at the gas station close to Lakeview, before riding south on the railroad towards New Sweden.
Old fashioned gas pumps still in service.
The railroad bed was in bad shape because of the warm weather lately. No groomer had been out for a while.
We rode down to New Sweden where we stopped and discussed what to do next. We figured we would ride a small trail thru the fields towards the east ending up on the trail heading north towards Fort Kent.
We continued down thru New Sweden.... one can only imagine how great this trail usually are when conditions are perfect..... will be back to check it out next season
We arrived at the intersection where we turned left to the east.
Great having real trailsigns showing what, where, how far etc
Last break before we arrived home at Eagle Lake.
Odd-Steffen relaxing on his sled
Having a great time buddy?
End odo.
Last part of the ride up north was pretty darn good, specially the trail towards Fort Kent and the narrow twisty trails down to Eagle Lake, that was pretty fun riding. The flatlanders stood the tests and are now checked out as official trail riders. Flatlanders in training period is officially over. We are now accepted as riders on the Gaspe Roundtrip, distance 1130 miles in 5 days. Let the Gaspe roundtrip begin

Can anyone explain the Maine style egg dish on page 2? It looks pretty good cooking but not sure what the finished product is.

The middle section of a toast is cut out leaving a square space, an egg is put inside the square, ham and cheese is put on top of the egg and toast, and the toast cut away. The dish is cooked inside a stove until the eggs are done. Damn good dish, I recommend it

The Club House at Saint Paulin.
Leaving the clubhouse we rode south on trail 595 towards La Cache.
We stopped to shoot photos in a valley that were a hazardious place to stay. Steep high mountains set the stage for avalanches, luckily we didn't encounter any, but the mountains had the tell tale signs of past avalanches.
Great views in the mountains, closing in on La Cache.

We started out at 07:00 on day 3 heading south east down the Piston Alley on trail 597. We rode the power lines, trails were straight and flat
Taking a break somewhere in Piston Alley.
Gary.
Bob, Boost Bob and John.
After 60 miles we took off from 597 and followed a side trail over to Gaspe as there were no snow on the coast to get down to Perce.
Bob, Jan-Ove, Odd-Steffen and Thomas.
Odd-Steffen is trying to make a call on his cell phone. Didn't you see the sign buddy, there is no coverage until another 15 kilometers down the trail..... LOL
We headed down the trail and entered trail 5 just outside the town of Gaspe. We continued north on trail 5 to Riviere-Morris where we stopped for lunch.
Inside the local club house.
When we were about to leave the club house we spotted this good ole Venture 480
Getting ready to leave.
The trail signs, we heading north and then west towards Saint-Anne des Monts on trail 5.
We tode past Riviere-au-Renard on the north shore of Gaspe peninsula where we shot a nice pics with wiew out the Saint Lawrence Bay. Lots of pack ice floating around out in the bay.
Trails on the north show were a lot better than further south because of colder temps and a lot more snow
Riding condition and terrain were to die for, I loved every minute of riding, did I forget to say the weather was just perfect.
We stopped many places to look at the views and shoot pics.
Gaspe have a lot of wind mill parks. We stopped for a photo session because of the great view from this spot.
Bob, Boost Bob and Odd-Steffen.
Thomas.
Great view out the Saint Lawrence Bay.
Next stop were at the club house at Les As. Bob, Boost Bob, John and Gary.
Inside the club house. Bob, Boost Bob and Gary.
Thomas. Almost every club house have a pool table, great
The amount of snow in Les As were unreal, to get inside we hade to go down stairs cut out in the snow to get down to the front door. Here's a pic of the snow depth, pics shot from inside.
Next stop were Grande-Vallee.
We made a fuel stop at Riviere-la-Madeleine.
Crossing one of the many rivers up in Gaspe. Real bridges for snowmobiles and ATVs, I wish we had those in Norway.
Crossing the valleys on the north shore of Gaspe was a great experience, I'm glad I'm used to ride steep mountains because some of the trails were pretty steep.
We rode past Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis.
Climbing the mountain....
This incline was somewhere from 12 to 16 %
Bob and Gary.
Riviere-a-Claude.
Thomas.
We climbed back up the mountain. View down the valley towards Riviere-a-Claude.
Steep mountain for sure.
It was getting late in the evening. We had our last break up on a view point looking out the Saint Lawrence Bay.
It was getting dark so we continued against Saint-Anne des Monts. Closing in on Saint-Anne we missed the trail down to the city, we continued for approx 10 miles before our leader Boost Bob spotted the error. We turned around, found the trail and entered the town of Saint-Anne des Monts. When we filled up the sleds John's FX Nytro took more than stated tank volume, guess he was riding on fumes.
We found the motel were we stayed the night.
I'm watching the sled outside the motel while rest of the guys were inside checking in.
End trip.
End odo.
Milage so far on the Gaspe trip.
We decided to grab something to drink before going out to eat. Guys at the bar.
Thomas and Odd-Steffen.
Bob and John.
Gary.
Boost Bob.
After a beer, a drink or whatever or two, we walked across the street to a restaurant close by for dinner.
The nice and pretty french woman, our vaitress for the evening, she provided great service.
I had grilled beef.
Don't know what Odd-Steffen had for dinner, but I know what he wanted for dessert LOL.....
Back at the motel we entered the bar for a few more cold ones, drinks or whatever. Bob, John and Odd-Steffen. Bob and Odd-Steffen talking Gyrochopters, both beeing pilots.
Me and Boost Bob, talking turbos I guess hahahaha
After a few drinks, beers and laughs we called it the night.

Start odo.
We rode to the west on trail 5 heading for Riviere-du-Loup.
On our way westwards we crossed yet another great suspended snowmobile bridge
On the 4th day of riding we had another long day of riding so we decide to ride as much as possible. That's why we shot very few pics.
Anyway - we stopped for the second time of the ride at the club house near Saint-Paulin.
Finally we found out why Boost Bob always was up front.... he has a G-Force Yamcharger installed. I rode his sled and I have to say you can really feel the difference over a stock Apex, the 20+ horses are very notisable especially in the midrange where it has a serious pull over the stocker. I think I want one for my 08 Apex RTX..........
After a short break at the clubhouse we continued west on trail 5.
Yet another fuel stop.
We stopped for lunch at Club L'Etang du Moulin.
Boost Bob and Odd-Steffen.
If there is cell phone coverage then Thomas is on FaceBook
Outside the club house.
We continued west on trail 5, we crossed bridge were we shot pics of a nice waterfall.

We finally reached Riviere-du-Loup and dropped in at Hotel Universal where we stayed the night.

After having dinner paying for the food the waitress thought she got too little for drinks, but hey..... she didn't provide us any service to speak of and the food was not that great either. After listening to her ranting about this and that and low wages to my American friends I decided she wouldn't get a dime extra from me either. After this little incident we continued to the bar where we had a few cold ones, drinks or whatever before we went to bed. We wanted to start out early the next day for the final lap back home to the USA and Eagle Lake.

Bob's ready to take off, we're waiting for our friends, I think they overslept LOL.

Inside the club house.
Odd-Steffen and John.
The club house had excellent service, they even put up the table with everything for us, all we had to do was ordering then sit down and relax while all was taken care of by our waitress
I hope I paid tip... they deserved it.
Gassing up before leaving Riviere-du-Loup. Gary and John.
About one mile outside Riviere-du-Loup the front W-arm in his skid broke completely off from the skid. His sled would not move forward anymore because the track went way loose for the drivers to hook up on the cogs. Bob decided to fix the W-arm temporarely and ride it back to Riviere-du-Loup.
The patch held up all the way back to the gas station where Bob left it. Thomas on Bob's RS Venture GT. We figured it was better to let Bob ride Odd-Steffen's retal back home, so me and Odd-Steffen ended up riding 2-up on the Venture GT for the remainder of the ride.
Back on US soil. We stopped for lunch at a small restaurant in Mooseville.
Bob's ordering pizza for all of us.
They had a pool table like most club houses and dining fasilities along the way around Gaspe.
On our way back to Eagle lake we encountered some heavy snowfall, the snow showers went on all the way back to Camp Davis on Eagle Lake. Thomas outside Bob's house, we're back home again.

Thanks buddy for inviting us over for the Gaspe Round Trip, it's the best trail riding ever IMO. Out mountain riding is more scenic but MAN Gaspe is worth a week vacation and the money it cost to get there. All I can say is get up there and ride - it's a WOW. I'm not easily impressed when it comes to nature, but the views and trails up there impressed me more than I've ever imagined, and we didn't even get out to Perce to see the hole in the rock. I'll be back next year to get all the way east to Perce that's for sure.

Jake and Bob.
Saturday morning we had got some fresh snow.
Bob blew the fresh snow off his driveway before me and Odd-Steffen took off for the Maine TY Ride.
Start odo.
Odd-Steffen and I rode across the lake to Fiddlehead where we met up with the rest of the TY Maine Ride group. Because of the severe storm we had in New England many participants could not make it up north.
The hotel at Fiddlehead.

The guys we rode with all saturday.
Jake the ride leader to the right in the pic.
We lined up across the street before heading out for the ride.
Jake wanted to ride south to Ashland. We rode trail 73 from Fiddlehead and we turned south on ITS-85. The trails groomed by Eagle Lake SC was in great shape. Even though the trails had a lot of fresh snow on them, with the groomed base it was just great riding conditions.
We rode past St. Froid Lake and Portage Lake. We tried to find the local cut trail to avoid riding into town but we couldn't find it, we ended up in somebody's back yard in a residental area LOL we had to turn around back to ITS-95. On our way towards Ashland.
We crossed the bridge over Aroostook River heading into Ashland where we stopped for fuel.
Odd-Steffen.
Jake.
Jake's Warrior.
Because of the lack of good snow down south we decided to return back north again. We took decided to ride ITS-88 to ITS-105 (the railbed). We stopped at the Aroostook River SC to find they had shut down the club house for the season.
04rxw10 and rxrider aka Jake and Jan-Ove.
We rode ITS-88 for a few more miles before we entered onto ITS-105 heading north on the railroad bed. We crossed Washburn and Penham before we took a break on the straightest trail I've ever ridden, even longer straightways than up in Gaspe, unbelieveable. Unfortunately the trails south of Eagle Lake was not groomed, not a single one of them :-(
We rode past Madawaska Lake where we headed north west on ITS-83 towards Cross Lake. Riding up the powerlines we came across a burned down sled, it was a Yamaha. We figured it had once been a Yamaha Venture 480 2-up sled.
The new and the old
We stopped at a St. Peters Country Store nearby Cross Lake for a gas fillup. I didn't bother fill up my sled as I figured I had plenty to get back to Eagle Lake
Odd-Steffen outside the store.
From Cross Lake we took off to trail 73B then onto trail 96, finally we took off onto trail 73 back to Eagle Lake and Fiddlehead.
End trip.
End odo.

I would like to add a few pics of places we've been and people we met when visiting Bob at Eagle Lake. And not to forget the new friends we got to know, wonderful people that share our love for the sport
I hope to see you all next season, I'll be over there riding next February, you bet.
Bob invited us out for a sightseeing on sunday February 28th. Bob took us to the Biathlon World Cup arena up close to Fort Kent. They are the host for Biathlon World Cup next season, we may be lucky and be there when the event is on....

At the shooting range gate 28/29, or stand 28/29 or whatever you call it LOL.
We drove down to Fort Kent where the highway A1 has it's stopping/starting point, the other end of A1 is down in the Florida Keys on the island Key West.
Later at lunchtime we met up with Boost Bob and his girlfriend Kristin. We had lunch and talked for some time.
Later on we all went back to Eagle Lake to Bob's place to watch TV, play some pool, have a few cold ones, drinks or whatever. I had a great day together with old and new friends.
Thomas getting some excercise on Bob's walking machine.
Odd-Steffen, Kristin, Boost Bob and I going thru my rxrider's turbo garage thread.
Bob's relaxing on the coach having a cold one (Bud)
Thomas and Boost Bob are playing pool, I'm trying to coach them a bit... I'm no better player than any of them LOL..... gimme beer BUD. Bob, what a great idea having a pool room down in your basement
Boost Bob and Thomas are still playing their game while Kristin and I are watching the game.
Monday we visited Roger's Sports Center in Fort Kent
where we met up with Bob Darrah aka Boost Bob and Danny Landry aka Speedmax
Boost Bob's race sled and Danny the pilot.
In the evening Bob cooked some of his specials, Venison Tenderloin with Baked Potatoes.
We had lunch together with Bob, Boost Bob and Kristin in Fort Kent.
Kristin in front of her and Bob's Escalade
After saying goodbye to our new friends we headed back to Bob's place, Camp Davis.
In the evening Bob took us out for dinner at a restaurant on the side of Long Lake. The restaurant is on the bend of the lake where trail 96 enters the lake.
Inside the restaurant.
We're waiting to get the table and dinner prepared and served, in the meantime we're having a cold one, a drink or whatever.
Dinner served. Bob ordered Maine Lobster, a traditional local dish
I've never had lobster before so it was a new experience for me. I like to eat local food when I'm travelling around the world.
Odd-Steffen is having a great time.
So did Thomas.
We're now official member of the Maine Lobster Club, we managed to eat it all
Man - it's huge.
Early tuesday morning March 2. We're getting ready to leave for Bangor to catch our flight back to Europe and Norway. Bob's having his morning coffee before driving us down to Bangor.
We're so early that it's still pitch black outside. Thomas washing his dirty fingers after the lobster LOL
Bob's "trophy room" down in his basement. The Guinness Record posters and certificates.
Visiting Wall-Mart in Bangor.
My first visit to a Wall-Mart ever, this must be the largest single shop I've ever visited, they had almost everything there is, almost.
This pic is shot inside Wall-Mart, from one side to the other.
We took farewell with Bob at Bangor International Airport, the flight down to Philadelphia went smooth and nice, no bumps and easy landing
We're at the gate waiting for our flight back to Frankfurt in Germany. We're flying USAirways Airbus A330-300 on our flight back to Europe.
Before boarding we had a few beer and drinks.
A nice elderly German woman shot a group pic of us
Taxiing to the runway. There were quite some traffic around the time of our departure with outgoing and incoming planes all over the place. Nice to see a busy airport in function. Taxiing to the runway.
Entering the runway, getting ready for take off.
Up at flight level 38000, what a nice view.
While I was watching a 2 hour movie something happened, the guys were already drunk and had fallen asleep.... well yet another flight awake alone... LOL ... sleep well my friends.
After landing in Frankfurt early morning CET we jumped on our flight north to Oslo. After an hour waiting and shopping at the Tax Free at Gardermoen we flew Scandinavian Airlines north to Tromsø.
We had a few beers before we departed on our last leg home to Lakselv.
Here's a few pics shot of the mountains of Norway somewhere in between Tromsø and Lakselv.

We arrived home town of Lakselv in the afternoon the day after we left Bangor, at that time I had been awake for 33 hours straight... I was kinda tired. Anyway, in the evening we had a blizzard. Pics are shot outside our house.
Home again, I love that, but I can't wait to go back to the USA to ride next season.
