Thursday at noon, we had a little after sled last night....
Slept like a baby until 11 AM LOL
We're about ready to ride, weather is great, 35F or +2C. Odd-Steffen and "Pinky" the rental sled in the middle of the Yammy pack. The Polaris got renamed during yesterdays ride, Boost Bob and Kristin gave it the most catchy name "Pinky".
Me and the 09 RS Venture GT. I'm a bit tired
Start odo.
Filling up at the Citgo Gas Station in Eagle Lake.
It's a warm day, sun is pretty sharp, snow is melting away fast in the parking lots and on tarmac outside gas stations.
After filling up the sled we rode to the race track to meet up with Boost Bob and Danny.
Danny's warmin up the sled.
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3697.mp4
First testrun, '08 Yamaha custom turbo system.
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3708.mp4
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3709.mp4
The racetrack is only halfway done, one lane is missing, will be two lanes on raceday.
Hondo and Boost Bob's sled.
I'm taking a nap on the coach. Danny's riding the Pinky sled.
Bob Davis aka Hondo
Another testrun, Danny is struggeling with the electronic boost controller, the sled is only running at 12 lbs of boost no matter what he tells the controller to put out for boost, it just won't do a thing. He's going with a manual boost controller to be able to get 20+ lbs for raceday.
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3710.mp4
Racetrack halfway done, lane two will be ready at raceday.
Yet another testrun.
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3713.mp4
Shot at the finishing line. Danny's has got the fuelmap perfected, boost is still low, but the sled is running way better than the first testrun.
http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee12 ... CF3717.mp4
After the testing was done we went for a afternoon/evening ride.
We went to Carter Brook Sno-Birds Snowmobile Club somewhere in the woods not very far from Eagle Lake.
Guys outside the club house.
Entering Fort Kent Trail system.
The trail in USA and Canada are very well marked. In Norway we do not have many trail signs. Direction markers (without milage) and road crossing signs. We have a long way to go to get up to the standars of the trails of America.
This part of the trail was amazing and awesome at the same time, it was like riding thru a tunnel in the forest
nice place.
Riding the power lines, very interesting trails to ride, up and down and some twisties.
Bob's going over the edge for a steep downhill the a very steep climp up again.
Saint John River in the Saint John Valley, Canada on the other side of the river.
Odd-Steffen on the Pinky and Hondo on the '05 RS Venture.
On the hillside above Saint John River.
Where on earth do you have double laned trail? In Maine you have them, Maine have a great and well maintained trail system from what I've seen. This part is just awesome to ride, not to forget the railbeds. On this part of the trail you could ride 2 sleds aside each other down the trail, no problem.
We had the Sledders Moon
At an intersection somewhere north in the Potato fields.
Entering Frenchville Snomobile Club Trail System.
Sunset out in the Potato fields.
Somewhere in the middle of the Potato fields. The Potato fields makes me think of the Prairie with it's rolling hills and open landscape. A huge part of the Northern Maine is open fields like shown in the picture. It's a great area to ride thru, nice.
End trip.
End odo.

I talked to Gary Schneider from Plattsburg NY, he's going up next year February 25th to March 5th, I'm planning on those dates for next year. Great bunch to ride with. We did the Gaspe round trip last year, 1700 miles in 9 days.

Great pictures; rode the same areas and some of the same stops you were in the following week. Trails and scenery awesome. This was our 4th trip to" the County"and gets better every time. With gas costs going up we are seriously considering a seasonal cabin rent verse traveling/lodging/permits at multiple locations through out the season. On a side note; wife got her camera hand slapped by a customs officer for taking a picture at a border crossing location; seems they consider that to be a no no.

Maine Ride 2011, day five.
Friday brought warm weather well up into the high 30s F, 5C. The day rained away and took away one day of riding. Nothing much to do in such aweful weather, to save some $$$ we decided to bring Pinky back to the Rental one day early.
With Pinky delivered we headed on to Roger's Sport Center in Fort Kent.
Here's a few pics from inside the shop.

Maine Ride 2011, day six.
Our flight back home was scheduled to 3PM in the afternoon Saturday February 19th. We had some spare time in the morning to watch Boost Bob's sled running. Sadly we missed the race Sunday.
The dashboard of the low flying missile.
First run. She went into the rev limiter.

Second run. I ran from the line to the finish line... sounds almost like Darth Wader, may the force be with me.
http://vid232.photobucket.com/albums/ee ... CF3775.mp4
On our way to Quebec City we stopped at this rest house on the side of the highway. Nice.
Sunday February 20th, raceday.
I got these vids from Bob Davis. It's Boost Bob's sled running strong.
They won both the "1000 Open Class" and the "Open Unlimited Class".
There were a Nitrous powered 1500 2stroke, Bob Davis said not to worry it will blow, and guess what, it did on it's first run in the qualifiers.

We had a weekend at Lake Gagga together with our girls. Great family time
Start odo.
Outside our house. Wifey's Toyota RAV4 Turbo Diesel. My BK trailer. And not to forget my Apex sled
At the Brennelva River a mile upstream from the sea.
Weather was turning bad, watch the blizzard closing in on me. I jumped on my sled and outran the blizzard riding fast up the river.
Weather was a lot better up at Lake Gagga, entering Lake Gagga from the North. The cabin is on the far end of the Lake some 5 miles ahead from where the pic was shot.
Oncoming traffic... hahahaha
Meeting up with a sled somewhere on the lake.
I went to the cabin were I hooked up the Nila before driving down to the parking lot to pick up Heidi and the girls.
Back at the cabin... we have lots of snow at the Lake this year
Nice riding condition, the trail to the cabin.
Enough snow for me LOL - I have to do the digging hahaha great exercise.
Sled nicely parked outside the cabin.
Kids playing in the snow.
Lake Gagga ice core or maybe not
Deep snow is great fun, no doubt.
Amanda
Linnea
Throwing snow at the camera, pretty cool.
The roof was filled up with snow pretty bad, the vent from the kitchen was nowhere to be seen, neither the vent from the toilet. More digging for me.... exercise puhhh
And then I dug out the deck.... after work was done I was revarded a few cold ones, ahhhhh nice.
Saturday at noon we went to Lake Russejavri, to the north of Lake Gagga where I spotted glare ice on the way up the day before. Our girls wanted to go figure skating.
Sledders passing by on the trail.
Part of the Lake is Army shooting ground... not much vegetation left on the far side of the lake. The Army have a movable target practice shooting ground close by where they shoot 50 caliber or 12.7 mm machine guns.
Lake Russejavri, to the north, most of the lake is covered by the small island in the middle, it's a shooting ground for morters, bombs and jet propelled missiles. We're outside the danger zone.....
To the east.
Saturday evening we went to Skoganvarre to watch Europes longerst sled dog race when they arrived at Skoganvarre. The race is 621.5 miles or 1000 kilometers long. The dogs sleighs arriving the night stop.
First sleighs in are the 500 kilometer (1/2 distance) class. They have a head start on the 1000 kilometer class.
Not long after the 500 class started to arrive we saw the 1000 class entering Lake Bajit Leavvnjas Javri. The first of the 1000 class sleighs arriving.
We had clear skies this night 8 PM. Shot a few pics of the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis. It's a lot more impressive than my small camera is ever able to put into bits and bytes.
We had half moon on a part of the sky having light clouds.
Sunday morning. Time get out. In the Nila sleigh we had all we needed for a day outside.
The girls wanted to skate some more so back to the glare ice we went. Weather was a lot better but temps had dropped by a lot.
We cancelled the campfire ide we had and went back to the cabin when the girls were done skating.
Our girls loves the winter outdoors. Back at the cabin they wanted to go skiing.
After playing around outside the cabin they skied down to the lake. I followed them with the sled and Nila. Back in the Nila I have a fairly long rope. I attached the rope to the Nila and asked who wanna go tow riding.... wifey and both girls hooked up on the rope and off we went.
Time to go home. With wifey and the girls down at the parking lot riding home in the Toyota, I went back home riding the Apex
End trip.

We went up to Lake Gagga again this weekend, great to have the weekend off at the cabin.
I brought both sled up this weekend. I have not ridden the TRX much this season, I wanted to see what she's doing.
Start odo TRX.
Start odo RTX.
Friday evening at the Cabin. Playing games with the kids.
We stayed at the cabin all Saturday because of bad weather, warm weather and wet snow, nothing nice outside.
Sunday turned out perfect with sunshine and even warmer weather. We had +8C or 46F temps all day. Snow is leaving fast at lower altitude. At altitude snow was drifting so temps was still around freeze up there.
We decided to go north past Lake Gagga to the next lake where we lit a campfire to make some coffee. Heidi's preparing the campfire.
While me and Heidi prepare the campfire and threw the pot over the fire; children were playing in the soft wet snow. Amanda our oldest kid.
Linnea our youngest kid rolling up big snow balls.
We're inside a small valley close to the lake were we where out of the wind. It was blowing a strong breeze, but in the small valley the winds were pretty calm.
This hill made up for a perfect shelter from the winds.
Linnea playing on the hillside.
Pic shot from the small hill. Mount Gagga in the far distance.
A pics shot towards the hillside on the other side of the small valley. Mount Gagga in the background.
Lake Cegguljavri where we camped.
Me and the girls climbed the hill to get a better look at the surroundings.
The small hill giving us shelter from the wind.
The RTX towing the Nila.
Linnea playing in the snow.
Heidi's pouring over some freshly brewed coffee.
Mother-in-law, Unni, joined us today.
Kids playing on top of the snow balls they made.
Heidi wanted to go skiing for part of the way home to the cabin.
Closing in on Lake Gagga there is a down hill, can she make it down?
She did pretty good on the downhill, no injuries or broken equipment

It's saturday and time to tow home the Birch trees my father cut down last summer.
My sled in front of my fathers barn.
The Rekka timber sled.
It's a nice sled, my 08 Apex RTX, I love it
Start odo.
We have a very short way to tow our firewood, not farther than the woods on the hillside of Luommečokka.
We're ready to go to work.
Up in the woods where the birch threes are stored. We always leave them standing upright against a tree from the time we cut the branches off, a few weeks after the birch trees are cut. We raise the logs where the ground is dry.
The birch logs are stored like this over winter; we tow the logs home just ahead of spring when days are long and sunny.
First load of birch logs loaded onto the Rekka timber sled. My father is 73 year of age but still lifts the logs like he did when he was 50. I'm 46 and I'm not much stronger than him. Nice working with my father out in the woods
First break, we had some coffee, soft drinks and water.
Later that day, noon to be presise, my mother and my children came skiing up the hills to visit us. They made a campfire, roasted hot-dogs and had a great time out in the woods.
My mother Jenny and my youngest girl Linnea preparing the campfire.
My oldest girl Amanda collecting dry wood and bark to the campfire.
A view over the Smiervuotna valley.
From the left, Linnea, Jenny and Amanda.
Amanda is having a great time in the woods with her sister Linnea and grandma Jenny.
We're packing up, done towing from this spot, 11 loads towed home. We're heading downhill to tow home two more loads we have close by my fathers house.
Work is done, here's the pile of firewood we towed home this year.
After towing was done I went further uphill to make trail for skiing, snow was starting to get soft and compacting it would make a good base for skiing.
The Bringnes Peninsula in the middel of the pic.
The woods in the right in the pic is where we towed home birch logs from.
The Smørfjord to the left of the Bringnes Peninsula.
The Olderfjord to the right of the Bringnes Peninsula.

This sunday I went over the mountains towards Skaidi to meet up with another turbo guy
Start odo.
I rode from Engmyr (my father's place) up to Lake Nedre Karlvann then over the hills to Lake Øvre Karlvann, and futher on down the valley to Lake Eidevann. Past the lakes I stopped at this trail sign (with a trail map on it)
to have a good look at the trails in this area. I'm not very familiar with the trails over here, actually it's my first time riding in this region.
I'm down in the valley close to the river Russelva. The trail ahead is a going up cross the tree line into the mountain plain.
Past the last few bushes, I'm up on the plain above the tree line.
The rear view.
The left view.
Further up on the plain, the trail ahead. What a sight.... incredible conditions as well.
In the middle of the plain.
A few mountains to climb, not this time
Up on the plains it was winter at full power, down in Skaidi it's spring.
The river Repparfjordelva down in the Repparfjord valley.
A closer look at the valley and the river.
On my way back home climbing up from Skaidi and into the mountains, a huge mountain wall where avalanches are common, I kept riding on the trail as it keeps a safe distance from the huge cliffs and the cornices on top of it.
Closing in on it but still in a safe distance riding on the trail.
It was getting dark and weather was getting worse, it started to drift quite heavily so I kept my pace to reach the valley on the other side before I lost visibility. That's what you do not want happen up there, you will get lost when it the white-out conditions set in, very hard to know up from down or sky from ground, this is when your mind get messed up and you start to make mistakes. Many people have died in such conditions. I respect the mountains too much to take lite on what the weather tells me. If it tells me to stay off the mountain I will get down into a valley as fast as I can.
End trip.
End odo.
I love those plains, when the light is good you can go full throttle for miles on end.

Took the turbo up to Lake Gagga for a shakedown.
Start odo.
Up at the lake I experienced boost drop 1 second after full boost. What the..... is going on now? Back at the cabin, troubleshooting the boost drop.
I got 22 lbs for a second then boost dropped to 14-15 lbs.... ??????
My friend Odd-Steffen helped me out.
Troubleshooting continued.....
I checked everything, even the water-meth injection system.
And there it was.... there were not flow of meth from the tank to the pump... what what what.... I don't wanna say what it was, but it was an obstruction inside the tank not letting the meth flow out of the tank. LOL.
With the water-meth flow fixed and the system up and running I went out to ride with two other turbo guys. We headed up into the mountains somewhere in between Olderfjord and Skaidi.
The turbo's on the lake. Mine is black and black is always faster LOL.
Conditions were great, flat as a pan cake all over the place, it was point and shoot for the most part
What can you say, it doesn't get any much better than this, earlier in the day with more hours to ride would have been better tho hahaha.
Sunset is closing in. At 9 PM.
Sunset at the hillsides above Skaidi, a small village nearby.
The turbo passed the test by far, she's now at full power yet again
Time to take her home to rxrider's Turbo Garage
