Second ride report

no offense, but don't you want as much airflow under the hood as possible? All the little leaks your sealing up help with air flow don't they?

You do want airflow, but the sled is still getting plenty of it and I hate how much snow these things get inside. I'll find out tomorrow if it hinders performance at all, lol.

Everything went fine. Sled ran good and the suspension is awesome. It's definitely handles a lot better with the 15" wide track. I have some funky driver wear going on which is weird but I think my track must just be loose.

Placer opened yesterday.

Placer did open, and now I'm tearing my sled apart again...all the way down to nothing. The Wahl drivers are crap and don't fit the track right(post on snowest) so I have to swap to Avids. My powdercoating is also flaking/chipping fairly easy so it's all getting redone. I'm going with regular gloss black this time as it holds up extremely well. Since a SC is out of the budget for now I think I'm going to get the Excell header, Aaen can, and YTZ7S battery to drop some weight and gain a few HP. PIA to tear the sled down but it will go a lot faster this time and I need to change a few things on the tunnel anyway.

Nik , we used a powder coat that had a rough texture to it on some of our trailers that really held up well to dings and scratches. It didn't have a gloss finish so scratches were very hard to see. its been several years ago and I don't remember what type of coating it was. maybe you all ready looked at it.

I'm not too worried about it. The PC company is great(I've used them for quite a few years) and they are redoing everything at no charge. I'm making a few other cosmetic changes and I think gloss black will actually end up looking really good.

I'm not sure why. It's more chipping than flaking. I first noticed it when I was putting it together. I dropped a couple parts on the garage floor on accident and the powder coating just came off in small chunks. usually powder coating is bulletproof. Probably just in the prep. Worked on the sled for 4 hours tonight and by tomorrow night it should be ready to powder coat again.

Yeah I posted about this same problem somewhere, not sure where, but i'm having the same problem with my Wahl drivers. I'm just going to run them.

Let me know how if they finally "wear in". I ordered Avids this morning and made sure I got the white Avid CNC drivers. He said he'd heard of other people having issues with the Wahl drivers.

Yeah I have probably about 2000 miles on them now, they kind of mushroomed on the wear edge, I'll get some pics, so you can see what I mean.

Here's a pic of how they look right now. You can see how they have mushroomed on the contact edge. It started on my second ride. The first ride was really loud, but they have quieted down, and they still don't ratchet. So they are good enough.

ok well it won't let me post a pic, just goes to a blank page and says "done". So I don't know what's up. But yeah, I hope you get what I mean anyway.

I know what you mean, mine have started mushrooming and I only have 25 miles on them. If I wasn't so picky about my sled I would just run them. If anyone wants a practically new set I will sell them cheap...like $60 shipped for both.
