Second ride report

Something I found weird yesterday. I siphoned out the little bit of fuel remaining in the tank that the dealer had put in. I then turned on the key and had 1 bar showing on the gauge. I filled it up with fresh gas and put exactly 7.4 gallons (right to the bottom of the filler neck).

What's weird is, I thought you had 1-1.5 gallons remaining with 1 bar on the gauge. I'm thinking it might be possible to get more then 7.4 gallons in the tank.

We'll see I guess. First right in a couple of weeks....hopefully!!!

If you are not going to store the sled or let it sit at all. In other words your going to ride it for at least 20+ miles right after the fill-up. You can take the white ring out of the tank or just sloooowwwly fill it to the top. This air gap is there for expansion, hense you must ride the sled after to drain some out before parking it for the night/day whatever. This usually will get you close to a gallon more (don't know about the Nytro yet). If you do this and don't ride it and the temps go up, you will have a pool of fuel in and under your bellypan. But for those that want a little insurance for getting home it's an option.

Just did 340km (210 miles) this weekend with my Nytro MTX!

The most impressive thing is the engine! It pulls hard from 6000 to 9000 RPM!

And my clutching is off since I don't have the correct primary spring (Blue/Brown/Blue) as of yet!

My fuel mileage was more than 13 mpg in 6 to 10 inches of snow!
My friend with a Summit 800 2006 did 8 MPG and an other friend with a Renegade 800R 2008 did 9.5 MPG
So, more than 13 MPG is pretty good!

Really love the sled! :yam:

thats excellent errol..did you let your buddies try the sled and their thoughts?what part of qc has that much snow..

Ok Just got back from P-ville and only put on 41 miles. Lots of swap riding (read 2' of snow) Bad news got 10.5 mpg .... Good news rode side by side with an 05 600SDI and it got 9.8 mpg!!!! IF this FX Nytro contines to get better mileage than an SDI I'll be happier!! But still needs more range IMHO.

if you got 9.8 on a sdi thats hard running...then 10.5 is very respectable..only issue is range like you mentioned..thoughts on the ride vs your xp?

No comment! (read this as Wife only let me ride in about 2 miles in powder) In that time I had LAUNCHED it off the far side of a creek bank (unseen!) at about 65mph and flew WAY to far and high.... good thing there was fresh snow to land in!!!I went back swapped sleds with her got on the FX Nytro and repeatedly hit that jump! The Nytro is BAD! There will be MANY happy campers and some confussed rev owners lol But since you asked YEs the wife is VERY happy with her XP. (I've all but been banned from riding it!! lol)

And YES both the FX Nytro and the SDI were to the bar for over half of that 40+ miles! I thinking it'll be hard to get less than 10 miles per gallon on any type of packed trail. Steep and deep? .... well that may be different!! There was about 60 lbs difference between riders but in 0-75mph or 20 mph roll on runs the SDI just didn't have a chance! (Dynamo^Joe's clutch kit going in the SDI this week) So we'll see... Those that know, know I'm an huge SDI fan so we'll be working on that Renegade as it's 100% stock. I was more impressed with the fox floats this time out, but I did get passed by a kid on a older rev that was taking chances I wasn't willing to do just yet on the FX Nytro after about 4 miles be put about 10-12 seconds on me..but I refused to go over 90 mph even though we could! We both gave each other a thumbs up after we got to the parking area....

I also rode again and did 64 miles, 42 trail miles and 22 DEEP pow miles and ran out of gas 1 mile from the truck. I'm not going to push 60 miles anymore unless the MPG's go up. The 800R I ride with seems to use about 2-2.5 more gallons than I do.

I did get a chance to air out the MTX(nothing huge) but it flies nice. Straight in the air and surpriingly feels light.

Good news too...I talked to JVS sheetmetal and they have snow eliminators in the works. These will be an awesome addition and keep snow out of the footwells.

DitchBanger,

Yes I let my two friends try my MTX and both came out with the same comment : "Impressed by the power of the engine!"

There is 6-10 inches of snow 120km north of Québec City (Parc des Laurentides)!

A freind of mine who has been featured in slednecks, Turnagain Hardcore, & 2SCS rode my stock nytro this weekend as I hopped on his REV 800 121 for about 10 minutes. His comment to me was, "WOW"! He couldnt believe how well it handled and commented on how much the ride felt like a REV. The sound and the power was a little wierd for him but impresive none the less.
We're going again this Saturday. Hoping to have added my riser, skid plate, and my Super Q Exhaust & maybe a little paint.

i had eliminators on my rev and what a great product..sounds like the nytro gets them as well..thnx errol..i want to plan a trip to quebec one day,ill have to look into that area.
