I am a flatlander and jumped on your mtn form to read more about the new Nytro. You guys sure are different. All you talk about is the set up and how lite the sled feels. Many of you are riding with 800's and none of you mentioned how your Nytros performed against them. Us flatlanders, that would have been the first question asked. LOL
Looks like a darn nice sled, hope you enjoy them

I have one.....I'm sure the Nytro will accelerate with or ahead of a new XP 800...it will be close....then the SD will walk past @ 100mph mark as the Nytro isn't going to see many digits past that..........at least not stock. And no, havent had a chance to race or test the new XP, I'm guessng frm what others are saying and from what I have seen on youtube.
I think people are buying the Nytro for reasons other than who's fastest......isnt that what the Apex is for.
For me, something REV like but that would be reliable.
Mountain terrain......who knows, I can only dream.

Did 36.1 miles today. 10 trail miles and 26 miles of deep heavy wet snow. Only got 7.7 MPG. The challenger track made a world of difference in the hookup department. I could actually blip off little berms and drops without having to get a run. In the deep snow it seems about equal from what I could tell. The Maverick actually works great as a deep snow track if the snow is fairly dry. If I wasn't into jumping and dropping cornices where you need immediate hookup, I probably would have kept it on.

Nikolai,
How high is the riser you have on there? How much higher is it than stock with the pivot adapter? I need to know how high I should go. Stock riser is too far back by about 1-2" and too low about 3". What riser would I have to use to get where I want to be?

I'd like to know as well, especially since it was mentioned that he was going to be riding with some new XP's. Perhaps the results weren't that good ???

Great sled been out 3 times. It's my first 4-stroke love the power had a 01 mountain max
MOB said:Was looking at that the other night....thinking if you remove the belly pan you could saw the bar just center-side of the clamps ...and slide them out leaving the clamps in
took about 15 minutes (though one side panel & pan was already off...best way to remove the swaybar...did it just a couple hours ago, FWIW. Get a good sawzall blade ready, pretty tough material...

I have the 4" riser which puts the bars about 1 1/2" higher than stock. I'm close to 6' 1" and it's perfect.
The XP I was going to ride with turned around because his riding buddy was too inexperienced for the area, I'll get to ride with him again though. As far as climbing, the Nytro doesn't stand a chance against the lighter two-strokes. The weight kills it. I spent a good part of the day last week climbing with a slightly modified 2005 800 rev with a 151x16x2.25 track and it wasn't even close. The 800 twins have more top end and produce alot higher track speed which is what gets you up the hill. I was only pulling about 45 mph track speed which is down considerably from the 800 twins.
I still love the sled and it's a blast to ride, but you have to realize when you're buying one, you're buying it for what it is...a trouble free fun great all around mountain sled, not a highmarker.
Now...if you could get a 156x15x2.5 challenger, another 20 hp, and drop 50 lbs, you could probably set a few marks.

Nikolai,
ThaT 800 you rode with last week is NOT a stock 05 800 summit by any means!! Mark has done many things to that sled to make it the "mountain monster" it is!! (He actually calls it that!!)
Now maybe a stock 800 Rev your FX Nytro MTX would be closer too (not saying which would be better!!) But closer all the same!!.
As for the XP IMHO after putting some miles on my wifes XP Tn'T ..... Doo has a very nice sled when new.. let see them after 1000 miles or so.....
FYI 30 or so pounds will NOT be that hard to lose ... the rest will get expensive!!

Marks sled is modified, but it's not big bored or ported (that I know of).
If the excell exhaust really ads 7-8 honest HP, that will help alot!
I've lost 10 lbs so far(taillight -1, Floats & swaybar -6, track -3), and once the coilover and exhuast are done(down the road), that will be another 25-30 lbs. 40 lbs off the sled plus an additional 7 HP will make huge difference in how it does on the hill.
Hopefully the coilover can happen sooner than later because I think the rear suspension is getting worse.

Nikolai,
Are the rear shocks rebuildable on the MTX?
After tearing mine down on the RTX we can improve them DRASTICLY!!

I think the only Rev a Nytro ould touch is a stock 04-06 144. It won't hang with the 800R motor and a 151 track
The rear shocks are not rebuilable. The only real options are ones I posted earlier which is to run the two-up Venture Lite rear shock, and Apex torsion springs which are 200 NM stiffer(1500 vs. the Nytro's 1300). They have fat boy springs for the Nytro, but used Apex spings will be much cheaper. at $150-200 for used spring, and another $250 for the venture shock, I figure you might as well spend the extra $600 and get the coilover kit.
I myself will be getting the Kmod coilover and drop brakets.

Don't forget Ski-Doos run 16" wide tracks, this helps in both floatation and climbing ability.
I'll be able to soon compare Stock FX Nytro MTX to a stock 06 Rev 800 in a few weeks or less.
