Secondary at 60 degrees - the good and the bad?

Right now i am running stock clutching, so its the factory 51/43 helix. Turk, on the bottom end, i am running about 10000, and building to the 11000 at 100 mph+. Would that 48/40 bump me up a bit on the bottom end also, to something like 10200? DO you know what the "correction factor" is to equate the advant-edge numbers to yamaha? Seems like the must be 4 deg or so steeper compared to a yammie.

The sled had about 2500 miles on when we were doing this testing.

My thoughts on the b-w-b primary spring is that since the engagement is alot higher, and the rate is alot lower, you were probably spinning the track and not hooking up, that is why it was slower on the bottom. Maybe a y-p-y which has the same rate, a touch lower engagement, and less total force would be better?

The Y-S-Y which has a 35 preload your sled liked.
The B-W-B which has a rate of 19.6 your sled liked.

Without changing anything else would a B-S-B work?
Preload of 35
Rate of 19.6
Won't know unless we test it! And take notes!

Yamaha doesn't make a helix that would shift like a 48-40 advantage.
Do you like to build RPM'S throughout the run?
10000 out of the hole seems low and 11000 is high :dunno: HINT,HINT

Keep this going ;)!

I've never tried the b-w-b or the y-p-y, those comments were to satan660 who was looking for more info on those springs which he was running.

I know yamaha doesn't make a 48-40, so i'm not sure what your tring to say there? And i know advant-edge measures their helix's different than yamaha (as do most aftermarket companies), so its hard to compare them to the factory stuff. THats why i am trying to find out a bit more info on them.

And i know 10000 is low, and 11000 is high, thats why i am looking for a different helix to try! And i do like to build rpm's, but i think my spread is a bit big right now. Although, i can't really argue witht he results as is, cuz the sled is running pretty good right now.

Problem is its raining here right now, and most of this stuff is going have to be on hold till next year!

Sorry about the primary mix up.

What I was saying about the 48-40 advantage, is yamaha does not make a helix that would be comparable to it.
What helix's do you have?

Itried a straight 45 with silver at 80. NFG; sucked down rpm,s even worse & slightly better with white at 60. Tried a dalton 50/40 with white at 60; mega bog & then rpm,s climbed to 11k. For my area ; my weight running stock primary weights I either need a lot less initial angle on the helix or remove some inner mass...which is what I am in the middle of testing right now if it ever stops snowing!

I tried the straight 47 with pink at 6-1 a couple days ago, but the conditions were not ideal: 35 deg and wet heavy snow. FWIW, it seemed to pick me up a couple 100 rpm's initially, and drop me down to about 10600 from the 11000 i was running, both of which i needed. But it also seemed to have some slight overshifting issues down low, but that may have been more the conditions than anything, and i didn't have time to put the 51/43 back in to compare. It seemed to work ok for my sled all things considered, hopefully i can get a little more time on it this year in better conditions if it ever stops RAINING! I wish i had your problem turk!
